Why is there still repression?

:salam2:
I understand the history of colonialism at the hands of the European powers after WWI, and American neo-colonialism in many Muslim-majority countries.

There is also harsh repression in today's supposed Islamic states for opposition to regimes, but where in the world isn't there...

Why, though, hasn't there been a sustained movement to get rid of the dictators, corrupt princes and khalifas and get rid of all these nationalisms that prioritize ethnic nationalism's rather than Islam? Why should these manmade borders exist when Islam transcends them?

and speaking of borders I'd like to leave this quote:
“Borders are scratched across the hearts of men, by strangers with a calm, judicial pen, and when the borders bleed we watch with dread the lines of ink along the map turn red”
