Wa aleikum musalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu
A SMILE
A sincere smile costs nothing, but gives much.
It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give.
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it,
and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.
A smile creates happiness in the home,
fosters good will in business and is the countersign of friendship.
A smile brings youth to the face of the elderly,
and light upon the face of a boy.
One of Allah's greatest gifts to an imperfect race.
It brings peace to the suffering, rest to the weary.
cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the dreary.
Warmth to the unloved, an invisible tissue to the teary.
Yet it can not be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen,
for it is something that is of no value to anybody until it is given away.
A smile is a charity, one which you can give freely and without cost,
yet for that moment, a single moment-it means everything to the person it is given to.
And maybe, just maybe-a smile can be returned freely,
another charity, another ray of light from a metaphoric sun.
And perhaps, possibly...a happier world.
"Your smile for your brother is charity." - Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Volume 3, Number 98
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Do not abuse anyone…Do not look down upon any good work, and when you speak to your brother, show him a cheerful face.” - Sunan of Abu-Dawood, Hadith 1889

Inshallah my poem gave you a smile and I hope you enjoyed it. it is the first positive poem i have written in many years.
With this thread i have stressed on the importance on smiling so first of all, smile!
also a question i want everybody to answer: when was the last time you gave your brother/sister a sincere smile? Not out of wanting something or anything like that...just giving him/her a charity?
