Zakat issue

Assalam aleykum. My problem is regarding Zakat. Suppose a mother has total of 140 grams Gold and she kept 70 grams of gold out of 140 for her daughters marriage. Later she handed that 70 grams of gold to her daughter though she is not yet married. So, is the zakat due on that gold ?

You should consult an Imam or a scholar about this issue.
From what I can decipher about this is that the 70 gms given to the daughter can be taken as a gift so the zakat only becomes due on the remaining 70 gms. But then again I am not a scholar of Shari'a law.
