:salam2:
As soon as we come out of our mothers womb, we are muslim. It is our parents who makes us christian, jew, hindu, etc...Alhamdullilah my parents brought me up as muslim, and may Allah reward them for that. As I was growing up, my father would always read to us, talk to us, and help us to become good muslims. He would teach us to study Quran, fast in Ramadan, and give to those who were in need. He always gave his last to someone, even if we had to go hungry(there were five of us). He taught me how beautiful islam is, and to stay in this beautiful religion until death.
After he went back to Allah, My christian aunt took me in, and tried to "Christianize" me. I was in the world for a while, but I felt that something was missing. My world was falling apart little by little, and I did not know why. I was on the verge of a breakdown, when I had a long talk with my brother who was still practicing. We talked for about three hours, and (by the grace of Allah) talked me into coming back to islam. This is what was missing. The emptiness I felt was the absence of Allah in my life, but He was always in my heart, and when I came back, I was at peace, Alhamdullilah.
Islam helps us because it helps us to stay away from what is harmful to us and helps us to do what is good and right. Look at the people who are on drugs, and drinking alcohol. There are so many accidents, suicides, disobeying of the parents, stealing just to get what you need to destroy yourself. Islam keeps us away from that, because Allah loves us, subhanallah. Just by testifying that there is no God but Allah, you are saving yourself from the Hell-Fire, and will be in a place that is the most beautiful and everlasting, Paradise, Alhamdullilah. When you come back to Allah, He will make things easy for you, He will provide for you, and be there for you when you need Him.
Despite what you see in the media about islam, its always good to go to the source, The Quran, read it for yourself. It will change your life for the better. It has for me, and I am a better person for it. This is my story(a short version of it), and I hope this helped inshallah.:blackhijab:
