Salaam Diane,
In Islam we do not believe in "ghosts" as we believe people are in the grave and cannot get out and wander around. We do believe in Jinn which are also creations of Allah but made of "smokeless fire."
There are good Jinn and bad Jinn but we basically are discouraged form trying to communicate or interact with them. Some mislead individuals have actually tried to harness Jinn to perform for their own purposes and this ends badly. The scholars have stated that what we think are "ghosts" are actually mischievious Jinn trying to misguide humans. (these would be bad Jinn in this case) Personally I think ghosts hunts are opening yourself up to some dangerous stuff spiritually thinking...I believe a lot of Christians denominations teach this as well. If it were my choice I would not do this and be on the safe side.

Alright, again I am a learner here......I am interested in the supernatural and hauntings and the like.....I have joined a Richmond Ghost Hunters Club and will be taking my first Ghost Hunt this Sunday.........is this permissible in Islam?
ghosts are not true if you follow Islam. However i have heard the theory that ghosts are to do with the psyche. For example someone has a repressed memory and is then 'haunted' by something. There is a guy on telly here in the UK called Derren Brown, he makes people see ghosts and do things but it is all psychology! I kind of believe that theory.....i think if you are scared enough of something your imagination can be so vivid it conjures up an image of what you fear.
I too am a big fan of I am interested in the supernatural and haunting and things of that nature and love to see then on TV but not in real life in person. Anyways IF YOU GOO PLEASE WE WANT FULL ACCOUNT OF IT! Also see if you can recite ayah ul kuris and what happens. Just be careful! I would say don’t go but if you go please post here with info –
As much I don’t want you to go! I want you to go! (no offence )
