Where Did Eve Come From? (Confused!)

I was reading a book today (it is about Islam)...and I came across this statement..

*Adam was made from mud, and Eve was made from Adam*

Now..do we believe (like christians) that Eve was created from Adam's rib?

I think I heard somewhere (can't remember now) that in Islam..Eve was created on her own..as in...the same way Adam was created..from mud

Is this right?
Can someone provide me with information on this?

I know I won't let it go until I make sure one of the two is the one we (muslims) believe in for sure!

I heard that Adam was created from clay and Eve was created from Adams rib.
I dont no if that is correct but i would also like to know.

interesting..so neither of you have heard about Eve being created on her own?..now that I've juiced my brain about it..I think I might have even read something about it *here* on TTI (I apologize if I'm incorrect)..

I have never heard anything other than Eve was created from Adam's rib. In fact in an authentic hadith our prophet (SAW) mentions about the woman being created from a rib.
Here goes:

From Sahih Bukhari: "Treat women nicely, for a women is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so if you try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. So treat women nicely."

Insha Allah this will clear any doubts that you might have.
