The Mask........or the Spirit?
Who can you get married to?
"And from his sign is that He created from yourselves your wives, that you find serenity with"
That is our creator's words about marriage. Therefore, I think that our duty is to try hard, seeking help from Allah, to find someone who is from your. Someone who can read your mind and touch your feelings, someone that your spirit can fly with his, someone you always need and you never become bored with, someone you can talk to just like a baby talking to his compassionate mother.
To find that special person, you shouldn't care much about external beauty as it doesn't guarantee alone that kind of love. Real beauty isn't only something you can see with your eyes, but also you should feel with your heart. Physical attraction loses its effect soon after you become familiar with it. It's nothing but a cover or a mask. You may find the mask very lovely and attractive, but when you get closer and look carefully, you may see someone you had never known before. On the contrary, perhaps, you don't like the mask at the first sight, but when you look beyond it, you may find the most beautiful creature you have ever seen. Therefore, you should decide which of the two things you are looking for..........the mask or the spirit.
The spirit, what a mysterious name of something you can't see although you can deeply feel it. Once, Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was asked what the spirit is. He was ordered by Allah to say that the spirit is God's matter and our given knowledge is just so limited. That's why I have no knowledge to talk about the core of the spirit. Instead, I can say a little about its features and characteristics.
The endless beauty of the spirit, that is the real beauty, as you would never feel bored with it. Do you know why? That's because everyday you will be surprised by a new kind of beauty. Everyday you may discover something unique, something you didn't see or touch before. Therefore, this spiritual beauty doesn't lose its effect along years. In spiritual love, the more you know, the more you love and the more you love the more you know.
The spirit never gets old. Getting old is something that only happens to the mask, the physical beauty, but not to the spiritual one. Along years, it gets brighter, more dazzling and wiser.
The natural love in which you are attracted by external beauty is like a volcano explosion or a flood tide. It starts very strongly and heavily, but it gradually calms down and declines. It may turn to be just a memory. On the contrary, the spiritual love is like an underground spring of water; when it comes out, it never stops and the more you drink, the more it floods.
