As Salaamu 'Alaykum,

I just wanted to share this with you guys since I live in America and thought it was really interesting, and quite surprising actually.

That is a very insightful clip. I saw that when they aired it on tv and The problem addressed here is one which bothers me so much that my husband and I are planning to move back to his country, hopefully sometime within the next year, to get away from it. I know that not all Americans are this way, as this video clip shows, but in a country that promotes equal rights, and is against discrimination, the people who act bad like this make us all look like a bunch of ignorant hypocrites. It is disgusting. We should all be the same as the people who stood up for that girl.

very good clip, i have never seen before. some people are just bullys, i dont know how some people could be rude and prejudice against others long alone saying something to someone; when they know if anyone was messing with their kids or family they would have a major problem with that

Assalamu Alaikum,

Thank you for posting this clip. Initially, I just didn't want to watch it. I was expecting that it would show some prejudiced remarks. It did, but what was pleasantly surprising is that there were more people who stood up for the woman who wore the hijab [i.e., covered her hair and was dressed modestly]. It is that that was truly inspiring, and I ask Allah the Almighty to guide each and every one who defended her to Islam [including the reporter and his crew].

Aameen.

This side of America is not seen often in the Islamic world. There have been some really grave injustices that were done to Muslims in the United States, and I'm not belittling or downgrading any of that. It's just that amid all this dark side, there's this beacon of hope. I remember reading shortly after the 9/11 attacks that some Americans even volunteered to walk with women wearing the hijaab so that they could buy their essential needs from the grocery store.

Thanks again for posting this video.

Regards,

That was really insightful! I would like you all to know, being an American, I have never met anyone who was anything less than respectful of muslims. Even my mother who is anti-islam (she is older and set in her ways) would NEVER tolerate people verbally or otherwise infringing on anothers right to their beliefs. My husband has worked in fields (electrical and telecommunications) in which he worked hand in hand with rednecks and hillbillies and even they were kind, friendly and interested to hear about islam. Never once has he felt threatened or denied. As well, I know many american sisters who are reverts and do wear hijab and have found that they too are not ostracized or treated badly, however they do get comments like "you poor thing, I am sorry you have to wear that on your head." But never hateful or hurtful behavior. I do think the rest of the world does not see the real Americans......Thank you for posting this!

thanks for sharing the video clip.
its a fact of western life that we have a small minority of racist people wanting to hold on to the belife that their country is their own and special, and no one can come in. The reality is that America is a country of immagrants, a few hundred years ago from Irland, England & a hand full of other countries looking to get a better way of life.
