Bismillah,

Assalamualaykum my dear Brothers' and Sisters' in Islam...

Insha'Allah we all are well.

Ok, here is a quick dish you can prepare for maybe a quick lunch or the like.

Shepherds Pie

I think Sheperds Pie is an English dish (but do correct me if i'm wrong Insha'Allah). There may be other ways of making it, but i'll guide you through a very simple and tasty way, Bi'idhnillah ;)
ummm...well i dont know about 'tasty'...but this is my way...feel free to give it a try Insha'Allah - it's not as complicated as Biryani :)

Servings : 5/6 people (Insha'Allah)
Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time : 40 mins
Level of difficulty: Piece of cake!

Ingredients:
1 medium onion (chopped)
half a teaspoon of red chilli powder
quarter teaspoon of garam masala
quarter teaspoon of tumeric powder (haldi)
1 tablespoon of salt (more or less....dont forget to use your initiative)
1 teaspoon of garlic and ginger grinded or paste
1 green chilli
2 pounds of mince (estimated)
1 tin of chopped tomatoe
1 jar of Dolmio 'extra' mushroom sauce
Mashed potatoe
Mixed vegetables (frozen-that's only if you wish to add vegetables)
Water
Oil

Method:
First part: Heat the oil in your favourite pan. Once oil is heated, put the chopped onions in and stir. Fry over moderate heat, stirring occasionally until medium brown. Add the garlic and ginger paste along with the green chilli and stir. Add some water as the paste may stick to the pan. You now have to add the mince and stir once again. Please make sure that you dont over cook the mince. Once it's like a browny colour you can taste it as it should be cooked. Add the chopped tomatoe and give it a good mix. You can now add your spices.....red chilli powder, garam masala, tumeric powder & salt. Stir well, adding a little bit more water if need being. If you desire to use vegetables, now is the time to add them, then add the Dolmio sauce and stir. Taste the flavour and add what you feel seems less, according to your initiative, although after adding the Dolmio sauce, it'll taste absolutely dee-li-she-ous. Stir and keep on low heat.

Why waste time:
Second part: Ok, whilst the mince is on low heat (although its partially cooked-Alhamdulillah) dont waste time, prepare the mashed potatoe to go on top. (Ummm....do i have to guide you to make mashed potatoe.....?....lol) Anyways, why not (just incase...lol). Basically, all you have to do is, put the kettle on boil, empty the sachet of the mashed potaoe into a bowl and once the water has boiled, add it to the powder and stir until you get the texture right. It's nice to add some salt & pepper in your mashed potatoe, along with some magerine ;). Stir, and there you have you're mashed potatoe.

The Fun Part:
Finally: (There's always a fun part in cooking, dont you think?) Ok now, get your dish out (it must be oven proof) and preheat your oven to gas mark 4. Your mince is now completely cooked so you can turn the cooker off. Put the mince in the dish, spreading it equally across; let it cool for 5 mins and then simply add your mashed potatoe on top. Spread the mashed potatoe gently over the mince and lastly get a fork to make a nice swirly pattern on top :) (aaah...this is the fun part...lol). Your oven has heated up by now so put the pie in the oven. Let it be in there for about 10 mins or until you see the mashed potatoe turning golden brown. Once it captures the fine colour, take it out the oven (please be careful and be wise enough to use oven gloves!). Guess what? ... WoooooHOOOoooo ... your pie is now ready to eat ;)!

Alhamdulillah...all set! You can now serve the dish nice and warm. Oh, chips goes really well with Shepherds Pie, if not filling (well i think so atleast ;))

<<============= Don't be too suprised....yes...your Shepherds Pie may look like this Insha'Allah.....i told you it was easy, the result surely is mouth watering, or maybe not...lol ;)

Remember i said you can either include the vegetables or simply just keep the mince on it's own, either way Insha'Allah it'll be scrumptious. There is no form of 'Grandma's Secret Recipe' Involved...lol...!

Tip Top:
Remember to use your initiative. When it comes to adding flavour to your food, using your common sense can give your dish a touch of your hand! Always tidy as you go...really, it's sooo much neater Insha'Allah. One main thing to remember: always start in the Name of Allah, say Bismillah!

Although I've given a recipe for about 5/6 people, I can not gaurantee that for sure. Please add more ingredients according to your methodology.

Thankyou for your time and I hope you enjoy this easy peasy dish, Insha'Allah!

Oh, and don't forget :dishes: ..... ;)

I leave you all in the View of Ar-Raheem,

Bismillah,

Wa'alaikum'Assalam wa'Rahmatullahi dearest sisters...

Habibti.....there was a reason why i said 'Shepherds Pie for every Shepherd' ....

HADITH OF AL-BUKHARI AND MUSLIM
On the Authority of 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar

'Each one of you is a shepherd. And each one of you will be asked about your flock. A ruler also is a shepherd and he will be asked about his flock. And every man is a shepherd to his family. And a woman is the custodian of her husband's house and his children. Thus each one of you is a shepherd, and each one of you will be asked about your flock.'

Subhan'Allah....what b-yoo-ti-ful wisdom, Masha'Allah......'....and a woman is a custodian of her husband's house and his children......' (Allah hu Akbar)...Subhan'Allah...isn't that b-yoo-ti-ful?

We all are Shepherds or Shepherdess of our flock! To keep your husband happy will Insha'Allah grant you an entry into Paradise!

Its an easy dish...anyone can make it...even the brothers.....

(Please note: This Hadith has nothing to do with Shepherds Pie, nor am i trying to blend it together....i titled this thread 'Shepherds Pie for every Shepherd' (since, as explained, we all are Shepherds or Shepherdess) ... that's all....the Hadith holds a Hikmah for us to understand our responsilities Insha'Allah!

[May Allah forgive me if i've said anything wrong, Ameen]

Barak'Allahu fik sis...
