Can this be true : Christians were forced to convert into Islam ?

So they say that in egypt christians were forced into converting into islam . And this happens in other muslim countries according to the media . Now I know muslims arent allowed to do that but are there really muslims doing that or this is just something that the media do to give a bad picture about Islam ?

Are there any egyptians in tti would like to clear this up ?

Dear Islam!!yay, I am not Egyptian, however, my father (Irish) was born in Egypt and lived there until he was 11. When he went back about 12 years ago, he came home with a disturbing story from Cairo. Coptic Christians were approaching him and his siblings and saying that they were being abused at the hands of the Muslims. This bothered me a lot as I had already converted to Islam and I recently had some light shed on the matter. The lady I buy vegetables from here in Florida is Egyptian and a Coptic Christian. I asked her about what my father had told me. She told me that she and her family were the only Christian family living in a Muslim village. When her father passed away, it was the Muslims in the community that paid for the funeral and took care of everything as they were like one big happy family. She told me that most likely the Coptic Christians that approached my father and his siblings in Cairo were just looking for some sympathy and more importantly a handout (cash).

I was happy to hear this story from an Egyptian Coptic Christian. I am sure there are ignorant people in every community but I think you may be on to something when you ask if it is the media giving a bad picture about Islam.

Coptic Christians are the Most wealthiest people in Egypt, most of the Millionares in Egypt are Coptics, they own many TV channels there even though they are only 10% of the population. those that say Egypt was forced to convert to Islam are lieing. when Muslims went to Egypt they only went with 21,000 Muslims Soldiers while the Population of Egypt was 5 Million. so How can the 21,000 convert those Millions of People? If it wasn't for the Muslims those coptics would have been Catholics since the Pope of the Coptics was on the run from the Vatican and was going to get Killed, he went to the Muslims for Protection. That is how the Coptic church was saved because of the Muslims and this is why still the coptics are orthodox if it wasnt for the Muslims the Romans would convert them to Catholism, The coptics especially their pope are now Jealous because many coptics are leaving the coptic church and embrasing Islam and they have no other way to bring them back but to threaten them and falsify History.

Brother, I'm not Egyptian, but I just want to let you know that there are ALL kinds of people in this world, good AND bad, and that includes amongst Muslims as well. Muslims aren't allowed to do many things, but some do them anyway. This shouldn't be any different. Although forcing one to convert to Islam is haram, that doesn't mean there aren't people who do it. As humans are prone to mistakes, Muslims aren't any different.

I have interaction with number of coptic egyptian Christians and they had never told me that they are forced to convert to Islam in Egypt.

Yes there is one guy i know who is a finance manager and was thrown out of company because of wrongly misstating income statement, showing million in profit wrongly to get bonus. Once I exposed it, and he was shown the door, he started saying that because he is a Christian the muslims are treating him like that.

Even after 1400 hundreds have passed there are still millions of coptic Christians living in the middle east today , that is enough proof that muslims who have been ruling middles east from centuries have never forced them to become a muslim

My friend told me that her mother and her sisters migrated here (america) because they were being persecuted because of their christian faith and she told me that egypt ( before the days it became muslim ) that christian egyptians asked arabs for help and the arabs came and won the war and then arabs started killing the christians .


Anyone wanna clear this up because I know this is not true ? And link would be nice

:salam2:salam that was probably to get the visa and some financial assistance allahu aalam a lot of people do that also trust me! don t get deceived by such things ,it is the Christians who are forcing their belief right at this moment in Iraq and Afghanistan no the other way around,people from the four corners of the planet are"turning to Islam"today.in spite of the unfair media coverage ,what are they gonna do next against the guidance of Allah swt,what else hun.. bombard another country!a whole continent maybe!what weapons,what threats what compulsion!from which side anyways...,forcing anybody to accept an ideology or a belief that is contrary to their heart inclination is a big nonsense,and if there are some people doing that,i believe they should get their senses back inshallah to read the quran and hadeeths with the proper understanding,if Allah swt had wanted he would have made the whole world submit to his will,but he wanted diversity,the guidance is there... to pass on the message through our acts and preaching is our only duty,the judgment doesnt lie in our hands,let Allah swt alone be sovereign of the justice ,mercy and guidance he holds in his hands jalla wa alla, we are not to share his wisdom and power ,because of some deficiency he has astaghfirullah he is the self sufficient and the only benefactor in the end.

Could anybody tell what are the doctrine differences between coptic christian and catholic christian?

Coptic Christians are Orthodox like Greece and Many eastern European Countries and Russia, Catholics are those who follow the Vatican, Most of their beleif is the same but they differ in terms of who is Jesus lol Even in their fundamental believe they differ. Also They don't have the same Bible, they also have different christmas days and a whole different calender for themselves. But Both of them are christian sects.

The answer is simple if the muslims wanted to they could have killed all the coptics and the Jews as well but we didnt and their existence is proof of that.

Look at what Umar (ra) did, he told the Christinas to move from the Arabian peninsula to Iraaq where he ordered Amr bin Aas (ra) to give them claim to land in Iraaq which they were given and the Christians of Iraaq are still there even today. The Muslims even allowed the Jews and Christians to have their religious courts in our lands which they could judge a Jew or a Christian according to their religious beliefs.

but the situation of today is different there is great poverty in Egypt even though the country seems rich but the distrubution of wealth is not given justly so maybe a FEW people are angry and taking it out on others, similar to what is happening n South Afirca today. This doesn't mean its is Islamically acceptable but it may be happening.
