Should we believe in a Mahdi ?

I think that we can not say that Imam Al Mahdi peace be upon him will have exactly the same character of our Resullallah, becasue Allah subhan we teal in Holy Quran sais for our Prophet Mohammed s.a.v.s.:"Indead you have the most beautiful chacter".
That is the conformation of Lord of Heaven and Earth to His messsanger and to His servent,Mohammed s.a.v.s.,that he is the best of all mainkinds and that he is the best who was sent from Allah Almighty.

This is showing to us that nobody can be like our Prophet Mohammed s.a.v.s. and that nobody can not have exactly the same character like him Alhamdulilah.

May Allah bless you.

assalamu alaykum,

as for those who call themselves Shia today, we should call them the "Raafidah", this is the description that the great scholars of the past (Such as Imam Ahmad or Imam Abu Hanifa) and present would use. Raafidah means the Rejectors. For they reject a lot of the things from Islam and they follow their own ideas. They not only doubt the Quran and give their own twisted meanings, but they disbelieve in almost all of the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad :saw: and hence, in the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad :saw:. The worst thing they do, is the Shirk and Kufr, when they ask others, besides Allah for help and assistance. They believe their 12 Imams have knowledge of the past and future and that they can assist them in all matters.

:salam2: brother.

We should refrain ourselves from making our own fatwa, Inshallah.

And Allah knows the best, Allhamdullilah.

May Allah guide us all.

Brother waht I meant is that we should be very carefull with calling someone unbeliver especily if we are talking in general Alhmadulillah.
Only Allah knows what is in our souls, mind and deeds, and instead of always judging those who left the right way we should pray to Allah that He guide them to the right path Inshallah.

May Allah bless you and may Allah guide us all,and thank you brother for the link.

I am really sorry brother becasue you have misunderstand me.
Dear brother I have used the word fatwa like metaphora to describe and express opinion with deep meaning and whcih consist spectrum of diffrent attitudes and which leads many diffrent questions on which fatwa should give the answer.

Thank you dear brother for your concern.

May Allah bless you dear brother and all Muslims.

Assalamu Alleicumu dear brother.

Can you please give us authentic source where "they" (our brothers and sisters) say that Imam al Mahdi (peace be upon him)is "hiding" somwhere Atagfirullah???

And if you do not have source about that brother,it will be better that you refrain your self from giving your own opinion because we should be very careful with saying something for what we are not sure,Inshallah.

May Allah bless you.

Sister Asja,

If you read the reference [links] posted by brother Mabsoot then you will find what I said regarding Imam Mahdi to be correct.
Sorry for not posting a reference. Insha'Allah next time I say something similar I will be sure to give proper reference.

-Brother Abdul Musair,
You still didn't clarify what I said rather you went off topic about Imam Mahdi.
Please make your posts as clear as you can, because they are very difficult to understand.

Why would I want to spam my own thread? All I ask and to confirm If Mahdi is a noun or a name?

It is sort of a noun...

Though the real name of Al-Mahdi will be *Mohammad ibn Abdullah* (yes..like the name of the Prophet (pbuh)) and he will also be a descendant of the Prophet (pbuh)..

I just thought I should add the hadith where this is mentioned:

It is cited by Abu Dawood, Al-Tirmidhi, and Ahmad

Ibn Omar narrated from the Prophet (pbuh) saying "Near the end of time, there will come a man from my offspring, who will have a name like mine, and a kunya like mine, he will fill the world with justice as it had been filled with oppression, that is Al-Mahdi"

By offspring..The Prophet (pbuh) means Sayidatina Fatima (ra) and her sons Sayidina Al-Hasan and Sayidina Al-Hussein (radhiya allahom 'anhoma)..

Scholars believe he will be a descendant of Sayidina Al-Hasan (ra)..

in my opinion, IBN HAJAR AL-ASKALANI may Allah be pleased with him has described the mahdi by using hadeeth narrations that are authentic. The mahdi is mentioned by many scholars. There will be some difference depending on the interpretation and authentication of hadeeth. The shia have there own texts and there own translation of Quran and what they believe is sunna. They are off to a tangent.

I wish I could translate into english Al-Askalani work but I haven't found any translation of the many books he wrote. His description is in line with Quran and Sunnah.

As with all information in the net, verify with your imam. This is essential to be on the correct path.

Assalamu Alleicumu dear brother/sister.

I aplogise dear brother/sister but I wold only like to said that when we are mentioning Imam al Mahdi we should say peace be upon him,and we need to have respection towerd him Alhdmulillah.

And we are not going to "descover anythng",neaither we will find some one who is "hiding" Astafirullah, only Allah knows all secrets and it will be how Allah wants and Allah knows the best.

May Allah bless you.

Regarding Al-Mahdi specifically...scholars hardly say or write anything beyond his name...they don't even say *may allah be pleased with him*...I hope you pay attention to this...although you mean respect..which I completely admire..but it is important that our respect is not expressed in an exggerated manner

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Al-Mahdi was mentioned by our prophet Muhammed Peace be Upon Him.. But our Mahdi is different than the one of Shia's.

So yes, we Sunni muslims do believe in Al-Mahdi.

Alleicumu Salam dear sister Muslimah.

Dear sister as you know it is our duty and we should always say for every beliver and honest servent of Allah (peace be upon you) or (may Allah be pleased with you),and this is not expressed in an exggerated manner Alhadmulillah.

But on waht you shoul pay attention dear sister is the long post of brother Shaheerpak where he point that the same schoolar that you have mention is saying that Imam Al Mahdi(peace be upon him) will have the same character like our beloved Prophet Mohammed s.a.v.s. which is wrong to say and Alhamdulillah it can not be truth becasue we all know that Allah subhan we teal sais for our Prophet s.a.w.s.:"........And you are the one with the most beautiful character".

I hope I could explain better dear sister waht I meant with respecting Imam Al Mahdi (peace be upon him) and not only him but all belivers and Allahs honest servents(may Allah be pleased with us).

May Allah bless you dear sister.

Ukhti..I read the brother's post and your correction to him..baraka allaho feeki

I only wanted to let you know that *peace be upon him* is exclusive to prophets and a couple other exceptions such as Jibrae'el (as) and Sayidatina Maryam the mother of Sayidina Isa (peace be upon them both)...we're not even supposed to say it to Ahlul-Bait!

This practice is considered *makrooh* and there are fatwas regarding it...

Respect is something to be offered to *everyone*...some are worthy of higher degrees of it..that's a given..but like I said we should *not* exaggerate in it

If you have the time..you can research the topic..but like I said *peace be upon him* is a matter *exclusive*

Jazaki Allah Khair for reading over my pointer :)

Thank you dear sister for reading my reply.

I need to correct you dear sister Inshallah. When we are giving Salawat on our beloved Prophet Mohammed s.a.v.s. we are saying"Peace be upon Prophet Mohammed s.a.v.s.,his family, his companions and all those who folow him". SubhanAllah.

And I also wanted to tell you sister that we should not say only for Prophets (peace be upon you) but also on his family, companions and all those who folow him Alhadmuliillah, and Allah knows the best.

May Allah bless you dear sister.

Salam.
