SALAM

What is so difficult......

Am just wondering why some people find it so difficult to say salam or answer
greetings, knowing how big the reward is. I've witnessed many here in Saudi Arebia, at times at the hospital, you see a well dressed muslim sister sitting at the waiting room, she will not say salam when you enter. And when you say to her, she will not answer. Or when walking and you come across them. I feel even if there is no reward in greeting, at least you feel good talking to someone or meeting someone. I do give reasons for just acts though, so I wont feel bad about it, like may be her mind is not there or some thing is disturbing her at that moment. whichever, may Allah ease us of any thing that will stop us from saying salam or answering ameen.

Brothers and sisters, let us keep the flag of SALAM flying, either is being answered or not. Becaues it beautfy Islam

i think the main reason is we dont know the reward of salaam.

earlier, i do not use to say salaam bcoz i was unaware of hadith about salaam.

no sister... you do not greet any males.. ghair mahaarimm men obviously.
if they dont reply to you.. dont worry about it.. you still get ur reward for doing salaam to them.

Assalam aleikum waRahmatullaah,

May Allaah reward u sister for propaging the greetings of Peace in your part of the world. Indeed, it was advised by the prophet :sws: as a way to spread love between the believers.. and how much do we need this today? Once, one of my teacher told me that the compagnions of the prophet :sws: used to wait for eAch other around corners, and marketplaces and they would wait for the other to say the salaam first [as u know the one who say it first gets more hassanat] and they'd reply with the full reply.. :) Ya Allaah!

May Allaah make us aware of these little acts which are heavy in the scale!

Saudis are a bit iffy about people they do not know and they extend this iffyness (if that's even a word) to beautiful Islamic manners such as Salam as well..I think the best thing you can do..is look the sister in the eye so you'd "grab her attention"..smile slightly and give the greeting...I think the smile shows a physical degree of friendliness..and if you do not get an answer..then you did your part..say alhamduliallah..because you reaped the rewards inshallah :)
