Is saying "Ramadan Mubarak" or "Ramadan Kareem" considered to be bid3ah?

Praise be to Allaah.

There is nothing wrong with congratulating one another at the beginning of the month. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to tell his Companions the good news of the onset of Ramadaan, and urge them to make the most of it. Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘There has come to you Ramadaan, a blessed month. Allaah has made it obligatory on you to fast (this month). During it the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are locked, and the devils are chained up. In it there is a night that is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its goodness is deprived indeed.’” (Reported by al-Nisaa'i, 4/129; Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1/490)

And Allaah knows best.

Assalam-o-alaikum Sister:

I have a question for all those who think that this Greeting ""RAMADAN KAREEM"" OR "RAMADAN MUBARAK"" is bidah....

Prophit Muhammad (pbuh) never used INTERNET to preach or propagate Islam......since prophit Muhammad (pbuh) never used it....so its bidaah...lol

Besides, not all innovations (bida`) are bad. The structuring of the Taraweeh prayer into 8 rak`aat is a bid`a and praying it in a congregation is also a bid`a, but both are good bid`as. That's right, some bid`as are good! Those are two good bid`as because they encourage Muslims to offer the night prayers in Ramadhaan, get the 27-time reward for Jamaa`a and listen to the entire Quran recited.

Taking off shoes before entering the mosque is a bid`a, but it's a good one, because it keeps the mosque clean.

Announcing the breakfast time with a cannon shot is a bid`a, the night envoy (musahharaati) waking people up for Suhoor is a bid`a, lanterns and candy given to children in Ramadhaan nights to celebrate it is a bid`a. But they are all good bida` because they help Muslims fast correctly and in a festive mood.

It's a good thing for every Muslim to be on the alert for bad innovations; those that alter the religion and affect faith. Things like visiting tombs of saints and asking them for a cure or a bounty. That is shirk. Things like consulting an exorcist to shake off a devil possession. Things like reciting Soorat-Yaaseen in reverse to harm someone. Many Muslims indulge in those practices with ease while picking on small issues like the length of pants or whether to rub the face after a supplication! They have their priorities upside down.

:salam2: Brother,

They are not bidah (as usually claimed by the people of bidah )...Please see the the following videos where it is explained very well...

It is based on works of Shaykh Al Albanee Rahimhulah, written in english by Muhammad Al Jibaly.

lol, but brother, Bida'ah is something, which is a changing in the deen al-Islam. Doing Dawah through internet is ofcourse not sunnah but its not Bid'aah itself. because you are not changing annything in the Deen of Allah.
:wasalam:

Jazakumullah khair brother for the clarification...

So DOES SAYING RAMADAN MUBARAK really changes the deen????or is it we (not particularly we) who have hyped the issue

While we're at it, domes on top of masajid are bid'a as well... our Prophet peace be upon him didn't put a dome on any of the masajid he built...
