How do you pray a "salah" in which you will sit four times for tashahhud?

hint: this salah is very usual and common.

sorry if i cannot explain it properly.:(

I know the answer to it, but I've forgotten. Its something where a person is late for maghrib fard, and he enters it after ruku when the imam is in the second rakah.

So the person joins the imam and sits with their tashahhud (T-1), and then he sits with the imam in the third rakat tashahhud (T-2), this is the person's first rakat. Then the imam says salaam, but the person gets up and prays his second rakat, so he sits again for tashahhud (T-3). Then, he gets up for his third rakat, and therefore sits for his fourth tashahhud (T-4).

I know I explained very badly, but try to understand!

Salam!

Ooh I rmmbr asking this question in Ramadan lol

brother tariq2005 got it right... Here's what he said:
"As salamu alaikkum. The man must have joined the congregation during Maghrib after the imaam came up from ruku' so that way he does not get that raka, yet the man will sit in tashahud. Later when the imaam comes to the third raka', he will sit in tashahud during that raka', but that will be the first raka' for the man who joined. So he sat 2 tashahud already. After the taslim is done by the imaam, the man will stand up and complete the maghrib salah by praying 2 last rakahs with 2 more tashahuds, making a total of 4 tashahud"

wa 'alaikkumus salaam wa rahmathullah, ma shaAllah sister you still remember i got it right ;) Its probably the first puzzle i got right lol. I was thinking of other answers like taraweeh, but I came to realize that every 2 rakat is seperated by a tasleem, and thus the prayer is seperate. Because Taraweeh can be even 20 rakaats so thats literally 10 tashaahudS :p

Anyhoo only the maghrib salah one made sense to me :)

Wa salaamu 'alaikkum

Salam everyone.

Those saying it can be other prayers...please show us how.

Those saying taraweeh, well it can't be becuase obviously it's a tasleem after every two rakah, and there is no possibility of it being that. It's one prayer, but the riddle wouldn't make sense.

And the original wording of the riddle goes like
this ... A man sat four times for tashahud in one prayer, how so?

So it's one complete prayer. Taraweeh can consist of two rakahs only, so the riddle wouldn't apply with it if people choose to answer that way.

If what you're saying is correct then you're saying Taraweeh is four prayers? I don't think you mean that, do you? The puzzle did not say that Salaam doesn't count, therefore four salaams in one prayer is applicable to the puzzle.

If Taraweeh is more than one prayer, it would have been called Salawaat-ut-Taraweeh, not Salaat-ut-Taraweeh. :)

Salam

ooh I didn't think that part..:-/

um... Well maybe you're right. I mean... It's not like a one answer riddle, right? The funny thing is, when we handed in the riddles to the imam during ramadan trivia night, he never pointed out other possible answers (not that I'm saying nothing else counts)

Anyway. My explanation didn't work lol.

Someone else?

Salam.

Sister Tabassum said it correctly for sure. Yeah and sister Summer (still I wonder why not Winter LOL - just kidding) said it correct too.

BTW, the above solution is not limited to Maghrib prayer, it will work for Zhuhr, `Asr and `Ishaa' as well.

No brother I don't think so. Show me how does it?

wassalam 'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

Here is the answer:

Salah Maghrib when you join imam in 2nd rakat after ruku.

sisters kainath_girl, Tabassum07 and Summer03 got it right! seems brothers were sleeping.

you will sit with imam's 2nd rakat but it will not be counted. then u will sit in imam's 3rd rakat but it will be ur first. then again in ur own 2nd rakat and then 3rd rakaat after imam says tasleem. 1+1+1+1 = 4. :)

* how taraweeh???  did i not say its very common. btw, a salah ends with tasleem.
