Should I focus or be chill? o_o

Salam2You! :hijabi:

So, I've been thinking lately about the Day of Judgement, since I've read about it a few days ago..

I've really put my mind into this, and I have some questions which InshAllah you can answer back to ^^!

I'm 14, (young :shymuslima1: ) So should I start to focus really hard on my life? Since a question will be asked: 'How did you spend your life?' And yes, I raise my hand I'm a geek who plays online games, BUT I do focus on life within religion, and just have some time-out cos' if I get too determined but it's 60% games 40% religion, but I have heavy thoughts and remembrance on Allah Alhamdulilah .. If I get to carried away with religion, well.. You know what happened to Iblis!

But the questions I have are:

  • Should I not play online games at all any more?
  • Think I'd get away with what I'm doing now (not going out and falling into naughty things, rather staying home in leisure time playing games) from the question 'How did you spend your life?'
  • Could you give me suggestions please? xD

Thank you everyone for viewing at least!
I'd love to hear your views tho :shake:

At 14 the fact that you are even thinking about the future is great. You can waste a little time. Afterall you are only human.

I would say first you should keep on thanking Allah (swt) that He has guided you so early, which many of us have received in a much later age and now regret our past life. Yes, Alhamdulillah that you are concerned and are not into any kind of haram things I hope. I would suggest that you read the Quran regularly and equally divide your time between dunyia and akhira. 50-50. Read the Quran regularly and implement Islam in your life one by one slowly, always strive to increase in Imaan in the long run. The difference between the status of two dwellers in heaven for one of them having even 1 good deed more than the other will be like that of the distance between the earth and heaven itself. So imagine how important is every second and how it could raise you up in status and gives you a chance to achieve more and more for akhira. May Allah (swt) guide us, purify our intentions, forgive us and accept our efforts.

Aww, haha I knew I'm not the youngest one in here! :D

Well anyways, I'm not much of an advice person, BUT you sound exactly like me! Except for the fact that I was like literally addicted to gaming a couple of months ago... I still play games and all that but not as much now that I'm actually into Islam and started praying just a month ago! [Yes..ONLY a month ago, and I'm 15 o__O..At least I'm the only one who prays in my family! D:]
Anyways, I wouldn't say you should completely give up [it's hard haha] but as long as you're focused on Islam, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The thing for me is that, I find myself easily distracted when I'm out with my friends, so I'd rather stay at home gaming though I spend at least 2 hours a day learning more about Islam.
Back to my point, I think it's okay! Don't stress yourself over this cuz you're clearly doing well and as long as you're doing what you're supposed to be doing [praying, staying away from committing sins, etc] you're okay. :hijabi:

Hope that helped at all. :)

PS: I'm sorry if I said anything wrong/dumb, lol.

Assalamu alaykum,

Now-a –days the teenagers seem to be addicted with play-stations, internet games and sometimes even don’t know when and how the whole day passed in playing those virtual games and getting the virtual points. That time could have been dedicated to learning useful things. Refreshment through halaal way is allowed however keeping in mind the fine line between something useful and productive and the sameway being useless and un-productive.

Everyone would be asked the question about what life they spent. Their body parts will also answer and they will become witness. This is mentioned in qur’aan and ahadith.

"That Day shall we set a seal on their mouths but their hands will speak to us,and their feet bear witness to all they did."

Al Quran. Sura Yasin-Chapter 36, Verse 65

mashaAllaah ! for us that is always better to wish concentrating more on religion. Men will be found to be in sorrow for the moments that lapsed from them without rememberence of Allaah and wished from the heart that they could have added more good deeds.

May Allaah guide us all.

Sister Salam2You....

NO MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE, IF YOU ARE REACHED PUBERTY THEN ITS TIME TO TAKE CARE ABOUT YOURSELF...

You see my lil sister... playing is not haram at all but when you say that you play a lot than anything..then there is a lil problem...

If you really wanna enjoy the pleasure of gaming.. then what about playing Islamic games??:muslim_child:

you see I know of a very effective knowledge attainable game called "Quran Challenge" & I heard that its available all over the globe... if you start playing it SUBHANALLAH you would surely gain a lot of knowledge about Quraan, Asmaul Husna, Seerah & many more...
I played it several times with my friend.. & it was amazing..:ma:

You can have many Islamic online games too.. just try it..so that INSHA ALLAH you may gain good for both here & hereafter...

Whenever you start gaming... think about the following verse

By (the Token of) time (through the Ages),
Verily Man is in loss, (103: 1 & 2)

if your heart says that you are doing some thing profitable & some thing which would please ALLAH AZZAWAJAL, then continue..orelse think twice before you start..

Hahaha, those MMORPG games are pretty addictive! I was into Sacred Seasons, and then I started getting violent into Half Life, and Wolfenstein Enemy Territory..
Like, I'd spend like 10 hours on the computer on weekends. That's just not good. Well at least we realize, and I've come to a stop now though I do play the occasional Flash games, lol. :D
(I've been trying to get my father to go to Jummah for the past 2 yrs, and I tend to be failing every single time, lol. I guess there's only this much we could do being the youngest kids in the family! :p)

That's great, Mashallah! At least you're into Islam compared to the whole lot of teens out there who don't care about where they're gonna end up!

&& Awesome! I try. :hijabi:

SubhanAllaah, what can I say? These are in essense some of the best times of your life, so do try to live it the best you can inshaAllaah.

I kind of 'woke' up to Islam when I was 13. Not that our family never prayed or anything alhamdulillaah, but until that point I'd like to say I didn't really have any idea what Islaam really was or meant. And even now, when I remember those times, subhanAllaah sometimes it feels my Imaan was greatest at that time, even though I didn't have much knowledge.

But of course there is regret, and when I look back to those times I wonder, why didn't I find out earlier? Why didn't I do more to learn? When I see brothers and sisters younger than me, younger than I was who know more than I do, I do in my heart wish that I could have similarly used my time. I don't in any way think badly of my Qadr, Alhamdulillaah 'ala kulli haal, but you see, this ball is now in your park. You have the ability to do so much, and you have to ask yourself then in a few years, will you regret these years?

Will you regret that those 2 hours you spent with games you could have memorized 5-10 ayaat of the Qur'aan?

Because the Qur'aan will stand at your defense on the day of judgement if you love and preserve it in your heart.

Games however - will not.

Abu Umaamah (radiallaahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Recite the Qur'an for indeed it will come on the Day of Judgement as an intercessor for its Ashaab (those who read, memorize and implement it)."
Saheeh Muslim

Will you regret that you did not spend those 2 hours gaining some sort of ajr, or just being in the Dhikr of Allaah, when we are told that all of the world is cursed and what is in it - except (one of them being) the Dhikr of Allaah?

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah :)saw:) said, "The world, with all that it contains, is accursed except for the remembrance of Allah that which pleases Allah; and the religious scholars and seekers of knowledge.''
[At-Tirmidhi].

Commentary: This Hadith has already been mentioned. It does not mean that this world, and whatever is in it, is really cursed. What it in fact means is that such things of this world are cursed which make a person negligent of the remembrance of Allah; or it is cursed for those who in their whole life do not remember Allah.

- Riyaad us Saliheen

Who will take account for our heedlessness but ourselves?

I'm not saying don't have fun, I'm not saying don't take some time to yourself, we're not robots, but do keep these in mind during your actions. Wallaahi one of the greatest blessings right now is your time, and you've got a headstart on many people, so why waste it staring at the sky when you could be racing to the finish line?

These are our lives, and we are Muslims. We don't live without purpose. Every moment, every breath, every intention is recorded and may be for our favor, against us, or simply useless. And we have to recall that they will be weighed on that Day when we stand before our Lord. We will have to say about what we gave most priority to, our leisure, or His sake?

It is reported that ‘Awn b. ‘Abdillâh – Allâh have mercy on him – said:

Those before you used to give to their worldly affairs what was left over from their pursuit of the hereafter. But today, you give to the matters of the hereafter the left-overs from your pursuit of worldly affairs.
Abû Nu’aym, Hilyat Al-Awliyâ` 10:242.

Lastly, I would just like to say, even when we are young, we are not invincible. How many of us think, "Oh I'm still young, I've got time!" And how many of us have been proved wrong? There is no age for when the Angel of Death may or may not come, and since Allaah has now given us reasoning and understanding, why then do we continue to devalue it?

I'm no standard bearer for this, I too waste my time and so this is a reminder to myself first and definitely foremost. I ask Allaah that He forgive all of our shortcomings, and help us become stronger and better Muslims, and that He gives Barakah in our time and efforts and allows us to use them to our benefit.

And don't give up if your family doesn't respond like you'd want them to, think of different ways, different methods which may guide them, and make Du'a to Allaah the He helps you.

Now I'm afraid I've got to remember the time and get back studying!
