This is intended for brothers and sisters from india...

Recently, there has been reports that the BPO employees of Mobile Phone Network providers (of India) are overhearing the private conversation.

I read this shocking report in one of the regional language website (for muslims)

Basically, its about a person who went to Kuwait shortly after his marriage. So he used to call his wife at night and talk for long hours.

After sometime he was shocked to find his private conversations was recorded and put up on the internet. So he asked his wife to report to an investigative journalist of popular local magazine. After hearing her case, the magazine did some investigation and found some shocking realities of our private network service providers.

They found out the website which hosts all these private conversations between husband and wife. They further went to a higher official of a network provider and asked him whether it is possible. He smiled and said anyone who is working in a customer care center is able to overhear any conversation and record them. Usually during night hours if a conversation is going on for a long time, they may overhear it out of suspicion. But some black sheeps use this to record private conversation between husband and wife and put it on internet.

The article goes on to explain that VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) can be recorded as well, but didnt give much detail.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, if you are from India, please keep this in mind. THE COUNTRY'S TELECOMMUNICATION CHANNELS ARE NOT ABSOLUTELY PRIVATE.

I dont know whether any of these reports are already circulated, but this article, i read it on my own. The report is written by a muslim brother and the referred magazine is 'Kinda' trustworthy. I leave it to you to decide. But it is not the usual threatening email that you get. Lets be careful in sha Allah.

Jazak Allah for posting this important message. Technically speaking, it is possible for them. Even Police or other security and investigation departments have facilities to record the conversations done over phones. Even though i avoid talking about some particular matters on phone, i am alarmed. Again Jazak Allahu ahsan al-jazaa' for alarming us.

And we know about BPO employees... not all of them are good..

Assalamua'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

Well, not sure what my feeling is right now. I mean, whether I am shocked or otherwise. I heard about the satellites own by the US (or maybe Russia) not only can detect your private conversations but also your current location. Anyhow, I am unsure the validity behind this report.

I have two questions though.

1. Why are people from India (basically) are called people from the sub-continent? I am sorry if my question offended anyone, didnt mean it that way, just want to have a deeper understanding behind its definition.

2. Why do the BPO targets only between husband and wife conversations? Do they expect wed people to talk about romance or more than that?

They overhearing private conversations are of course unethically wrong in the first place. And then, adding with hearing conversations of married couples. I wonder what their 'true intentions' are?

Was-salaam.

1. India and its neighbouring coutries (pakistan, nepal, bhutan, bangladesh, and i think srilanka too) are collectively known as subcontinent.. i dont know the exact reason. But long ago, i studied somewhere that indian subcontinent was away from asia and moved towards Asia to finally merge with it.. but i cannot give you any detail on that as i dont know myself. Hope a knowledgeable person answers your Q.

2. The BPO employees (customer care executives) doesnt stop with married couples alone. Infact i dont think they know whether its married couple thats talking. But the other details that i read in the report is not befitting for the website. Therefore i stopped with referring to married couples alone.

and yeah, if this community has any unfortunate members(i doubt that) who talks to opposite gender over phone, then they are their prime targets. According to the report, it is any conversation that is intimate.

And their intentions... my poor vocabulary skills cannot find a matching term.. but to put it plainly, its the perversion in thier mind to seek pleasure by invading others privacy.(thats what i read)

Assalaamu alaikum,

OMG! that is so scary, see I ones watched a bollywood movie in which this kind of thing was going on. But it was not a phone communication, rather there were people making billions of money secretly videotaping a new couple on their honeymoon. And at first I was like...its just a movie!! but this comes close....and its very sad. Even though, it is just a phone conversation, its still private and people have to respect that.
Those people deserve to be sued....I am not joking. Maybe the sister can file another complaint to try and sue whoever did the recording.
May Allaah protect the innocent! ameen

Assalaam walaikum,

!. Subcontinent: when the British Raj was in power they were amazed at the collective size of India. The land mass was so huge they referred to it as the subcontinent.

2. With VIop: it can be captured into text format and let's say e-mailed to another extension over the server. It has been around for over a decade and is used in all major business. It serves as a receipt.

Why anyone would listen to a private conversation between a man and wife is beyond me:

" Honey, do you love me?'
" Huh?"
" The kids did .....are you there?"
" Yeah"
" Your mother called and wants to spend a week with us...she does this every other week..can you do something?'
" What do you want me to do?"
" You don't love me!"
" I gotta go..."
" Do you love me..you never tell me you love me"

Do not watch Bollywood movies again, dear sister. They promote corrupted and haraam things in them. Also, the people involved in producing, directing and enacting the 'movie' are known to be among the most morally corrupt and money hungry people in our country.

Our scholars in the region as well as known world renowned scholars have prohibited us from watching such evil things. Movies have spoiled and destroyed the morals of so many young people in India (and maybe pakistan), it's really sad. People have indulged in haraam after viewing it. Be it listening the haraam music/songs, aping the poor clothing (fashion), being foul mouthed and seeking premarital relationships.

May Allah azz zawajal help and guide us. Ameen.

As for the terminology 'subcontinent', it refers to a part of the continent that is separated from the main continent by means of mountain ranges. This usually means that part of the continent (subcontinent) had it's own tectonic plates and over the years moved towards the main continental plate. On colliding with the main continental plate, mountain ranges were formed (the Himalayas).

Therefore it is referred to as the 'Indian subcontinent'.

Sister Aisya, you might want to look into 'plate tectonics', it is really interesting. :)

Wa alaykum assalaam wa rahmatullah wabarakatuhu brother,

Astagfirullah !!! The same way during the babari masjid unjust verdict people passed messages on cell phone(lol) -‘the calls are tapped and take care of what you talk!’. In the past there were some investigations too considering some as suspects.

assalaamu alaykkum dear brothers and sisters,

just to make few things clear,

1. Not all our calls are tapped. No need to be paranoid. The report warns that these customer care executives are able to record, overhear what we speak. But the traffic is so enormous that i doubt they will have time to overhear all our conversation. It is only the late night-long hour phone calls that they suspect. If you are unfortunate enough that a pervert sitting in the customer care office get to hear what you talk, then it surely goes up on www.

2. The report is not about the security forces or government elements tapping the suspicious phone calls (ppl are well aware of it.)

But i think it is safe to use BSNL's CellOne. I wonder whether their customer care executives are awake at night. (If you are from india, you are laughing now..) :)

Lets just be little careful of what we speak over phone in sha Allah.

salaam..

the person in the report is from the only state (directly down) south of yours.. :) ;)
the report is in tamil but is not particular to a city or state. Being a neighbouring state, i think the privileges of those working in such network providers wont be any different.
