A really good documentary about the annual Koran memorization contest in Egypt. It follows three 10 year olds, one from Senegal, one from the Maldives and one from Tajikistan.

MashaAllah!! This little 10 year old Rifdha is really a wonderful young recitor. I have heard her recitation some times before also. :)

As a Maldivian, really proud of her. She got 2nd in the competition by competing with much old people than her. :) May Allah keep her blessed, and all those who participated in the competition. Ameen!

fascinating film. thanks for sharing.

1) i think the taajik kid should have won. the judges were quite clearly biased and favored the egyptian lad
2) i have noticed this several times before but i just cant understand why muslim men from egypt an surrounding areas dont have beard. even the top scholars in the documenatery dont have a proper beard.
3) all this nonsense about moderate and extremist really does spoil this documentary. it looks as though there was a political agenda behind the project.

She was amazing, I however did not like her Dad, I know he had good intentions but basically saying for her to get a secular education was a waste of time irked me.

When this HBO crew decided to make a Documentary of them with the help of our former president Gayyoom, I immediately told my friends, "Oh Subuhaanallah! Surely this is a big trick behind the screen!"

To the surprise of many people, what this documentary promoted is western agenda of dividing Muslims to many groups AND increasing the hatred. They question and talk a lot with Rifdha's father and get some certain answers from him, and they get all the editing done before the release. Just after his interview, they get an interview of an Egyptian saying extremists bla bla and they are dangerous. I do agree 100% that extremism is dangerous and cannot be tolerated. However, the question whole documentary never could answer is "What is extremism and who are they?".

Rather, what they have tried to do is to is a person who have beard and all that who says its a MUST, is an extremist. They came here with smiling faces, took everything, then went home and released all this as a Fitnah Bowl to the Islamic Communities.

May Allah give us Hidayah and prevent us from accepting everything that glitters. Ameen!

If I am wrong, please correct me.

I enjoyed the film and just concentrated on the kids who were doing the recitations and not the politics of it.

Jazzak Allah khair dear brother and dear sister for sharing these beautiful videos with us MashAllah.

These litlle children are reciting so beautuflly Quraan, and I especially liked the recitation of litlle boy Nabiullah from Tajikistan, and he is also so adorable, smart and sweet child MashAllah. :hijabi: May Allah keep him always like that and make him to serve Islam and be good Muslim after he grow up Inshallah.

I think that these children should be example to us and like they, we should also memoraise Quraan and apply it in every part of our lifes, Inshallah.

May Allah reward you dear brother and sister for sharing it with us.Ameen ya Rabby

Awww just finished watching this! :D Really good documentary. I'm suprised HBO is behind it...but hey? I was so happy for the little girl from Maldives, Rifdhaa..I think. All the kids are so cute! After watching this you're gonna wanna take Qur'an more serious and most likely wanna raise your kids to be hafiz too! :)

Yeah I agree with you on the third point for sure. The whole politics nonsense is kinda unneccesary..it's a documentary about Qur'an...who brought up extremists, fundamentalists, and the like??? And the whole boy from Tajikstan's madrassa being shut down...huh? That didn't all add up to me but aside that it was a good documentary and nice to watch. 5 stars!
