Asssalamu Caleikum to all, i hope that you will be able to help me inshallah:)

The thing is that as part of my course is going to the threatre/cinema; although it is not obligatory, it is well recommended by teachers as it links with what we've been learning!!!

So my question is: is it allowed in that context to go to the cinema/threatre??

Inshallah we can try our best not to.

Question:
What is the ruling on the view that the cinema is permissible?.
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

No Muslim can doubt that the cinema that exists nowadays is a house of sin, which spreads images of that which Allaah has forbidden, pictures of women who are clothed yet naked, walking with an enticing gait. Indeed in many cases it propagates and promotes sinful sexual relationships between men and women. This is in addition to the music and songs, and the films of crimes that corrupt society. It is haraam to spread and propagate each of these things, so how about if they are combined?

The point is that whatever is like that, it is undoubtedly haraam and any money that comes from it is also haraam. Whoever says that the money earned from the cinema is halaal should examine the situation of contemporary cinema, so that he may realize the error of what he is saying.

People should beware of allowing that which Allaah has forbidden. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And say not concerning that which your tongues put forth falsely: ‘This is lawful and this is forbidden,’ so as to invent lies against Allaah. Verily, those who invent lies against Allaah will never prosper.

A passing brief enjoyment (will be theirs), but they will have a painful torment”

[al-Nahl 16:116-117]

And Allaah knows best.

actually, the question will still be if movies are still allowed so the answer is pretty obvious

Happy 2BA Muslim

Movies are not rejected in Islam as long as they do not contain what is contradictory to the Shari`ah.

If it would lead people to commit sins, then it is be prohibited in Islam. Thus, going to movies is permissible as long as the content of the movie itself doesn't contain a prohibited element.

Sheikh Muhammad Al-Mukhtar Al-Shinqiti, director of the Islamic Center of South Plains, Lubbock, Texas, states the following:

First of all, we have to make sure the content of the movie is education and does not contradict the teachings of Islam. If it includes immoral scenes, then would not allowed in any case.

Second, we have to make sure that there is no khalwah or illicit privacy involving members of the opposite sex. The group should always stay together.

Third, the boys should sit together, and the girls should sit in another group.

Fourth, there can't be any sort of physical contact or immoral talk between members of the opposite sex.
