Libya to NOW govern under Shariah Law!

BENGHAZI, Libya (AP) — Libya's transitional leader declared his country's liberation on Sunday, three days after the hated dictator Moammar Gadhafi was captured and killed.
He called on Libyans to show "patience, honesty and tolerance" and eschew hatred as they embark on rebuilding the country at the end of an 8-month civil war.
The transitional government leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil set out a vision for the post-Gadhafi future with an Islamist tint, saying that Islamic Sharia law would be the "basic source" of legislation in the country and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified. In a gesture that showed his own piety, he urged Libyans not to express their joy by firing in the air, but rather to chant "Allahu Akbar," or God is Great. He then stepped aside and knelt to offer a brief prayer of thanks.
"This revolution was looked after by God to achieve victory," he told the crowd at the declaration ceremony in the eastern city of Benghazi, the birthplace of the uprising against Gadhafi began. He thanked those who fell in the fight against Gadhafi's forces. "This revolution began peacefully to demand the minimum of legitimate rights, but it was met by excessive violence."
Abdul-Jalil said new banks would be set up to follow the Islamic banking system, which bans charging interest. For the time being, he said interest would be canceled from any personal loans already taken out less than 10,000 Libyan dinars (about $7,500).
He also announced that all military personnel and civilians who have taken part in the fight against Gadhafi would be promoted to the rank above their existing one. He said a package of perks would later be announced for all fighters.
"Thank You, thank you to the fighters who achieved victory, both civilians and military," he said. He also paid tribute to the Gulf Cooperation Council, a six-nation alliance led by Saudi Arabia, The Arab League and the European Union. NATO, which aided the anti-Gadhafi fighters with airstrikes, performed its task with "efficiency and professionalism."

Interesting. What do you all think? I like the part about the banking system withou interest. Maybe they'll be successful and be a romodel nation for other puppets Arab governments and corrupt Muslim nations....I wonder what the western world has to say about this? If shari'a will be fairly implemented, then I am happy to have it there. The west is not going to like a shari'a based Libya.

Wa'Alaykum salaam.

Why can't all the Arab countries get rid of their flags and come under one huge nation, with one flag and have one just ruler just like back in the golden days? Muslims, Christians and Jews lived so peacefully together back then.

Some of the minor signs of judgement Day have come to pass. So personally I think there will be no unity or great leadership, until the Mahdi arrives. I bet it's all just talks to get people on a hype.

They won't get proper shariah lol, trust me on that one. Let's not dream now.

They will however, do things such as; allowing Muslims to grow their beards, and follow the Sunnah of Muhammad(pbuh) without being put in jail or something, like Gaddafi would've done.

Unless there is a very good leadership, which can spot and filter, the ills of the old regime it seeps into the new... Look around nations, its evident is it not?

Soo Question would be, whats about the new leaders, that would make Libya a better place?

Its said to begin with Libya is in better shape and some credit is given to Gaddafi. Its even being told that with Gaddafi gone, the exploitation of Africa now starts (tho i dont fully understand it, there might be some truth to it!). , And somewhere in between absolute power corrupted him. That's what happened to Iraq, and other countries out there, is it not?

Would the new leadership be different?

I don't know about that shariah government. There are discoveries of mass graves of pro-gaddafi people all over libya. It seems the new "government" hasn't even started yet and they already have a record of murder, massacre and war crimes.

For now all I see is this....

What's with the pessimism? Let's be happy for them!
What else are you waiting for...puppet/dictator Arab governments or places that are completely corrupted...stay positive.

Say what?! Gaddafi put men in jail for growing beards?!:angryred:

That is the first I have heard of that, but I am strongly opposed to such a law. It should be up to an individual man whether or not he wants to grow his beard, and how.

Hosni Mubarak was the same. I'm not sure if they were put in prison but you couldn't do it.

What is it with some people and governments that they have such great overconcern with the appearance of other people?! If they aren't passing a law requiring beards or certain clothing, then they are passing laws forbidding beards, or certain clothing. There should not be any laws about beards or clothing at all, it should be up to all people to decide for themselves what sort of beards, if any, or what sort of clothing, if any, that they want to wear.

The people who are so worried about other people's beards or clothing, or lack thereof, need to find something more important to do with their time than passing such laws. I'd recommend their cleaning out the dust from between their toes, to start with. When they are done with that, I'm sure I can find several thousand other things for them to do, all of which are of far greater importance than worrying about other people's beards or garments, or the lack there-of. IMHO, human beings of normal intelligence ought to mature beyond the point of constant worrying about the beards and clothing of other people, including making laws about such things, by the time they are 20 or so. But perhaps maturity standards are different in Gaddafi's and Mubarak's family.

Septithol.

Could you please be MORE respectful towards us, the Muslims because your post was highly insulting.

I was meant to reply to the thread where you were discussing about the hijaab but didn't as I feel that there won't be much benefit.

First and foremost, you must understand the countries mentioned - Egypt, Libya are majority Muslims country. So about passing laws of people attires, it is in accordance to God's laws. However, in contrast to what had happened, due to having unIslamic leaders [some scholars declared the rulers as kaafir based on strong evidences], we see that those rulers are "turning" the Islamic country into a non-Islamic one.

So do you understand why the people express their anger? For you, its someone's choice to wear WHATEVER they want. But for us, who hold on strongly to our faith, doesn't work that way. Sorry to disappoint you. So please now could you please stop spreading about the so-called freedom you're talking about because honestly, it does not apply to Muslims.

Good day.

Since my post specifically stated that I strongly disagree with the laws made by Gaddafi preventing Muslim men from growing beards, I fail to understand why that is 'insulting' to Muslims. I would think it would be 'insulting' to you if I agreed with such laws.

Good day.

I fail to see how my version of freedom does not apply to Muslims, since included in my version of freedom, as I have stated many times, is the right of Muslims to dress and grow beards as they see fit. It simply doesn't include anything that will allow Muslims to tell OTHER people how to dress, any more than it includes anything that will allow Gaddafi (or anyone else) to tell Muslims how to dress.
