Assalamu Alaikkum wa rahamatullahi wabarakatuhu,

Aishah narrated:
"Allah's Messenger said to me: 'Bring me the Khumrah from the Masjid.' She said: "I said: 'I am menstruating.' He said: 'Indeed your menstruation is not in your hand.'" (Sahih)

One can conclude from the above Hadith that touching the prayer rug is permissible.

Assalaamu 'alaykum!
Assalaam walaikum,

I need a refresher on the following, please.

Can a woman who is on menus touch a prayer rug.
Can a woman who is on menus recite Sura Fathia, etc.

Q) Can a woman who is on menus touch a prayer rug.
A) Yes... No problem whatsoever...

The prophet asked 'Aa'ishah (his wife) to go and get him his prayer rug, she said 'im menstruating.' so he said 'your menstruation is not in your hands.' [bukhaaree]

Q) Can a woman who is on menus recite Sura Fathia
A) Difference of opinion... depends on how you understand the above hadeeth i just quoted...

those who say u can use the above hadeeth to show that menstruation is not a physical impurioty so therefore there is nothing forbidding her to touch it (as the hadeeth clearly says ''your menstruation is not in your hands.").

However those who say a menstruating woman cannot touch the quraan interpret the phrase 'your menstruation is not in your hands' to mean 'it is not in your hands, rather it is the Hands of Allaah.'' meaning; ''its not in your control, but in Allaah's cntrol."

those who say that "a person in the state of major impurity cannot touch the quraan" are further divided into two opinions about a menstruating woman...

group 1 say) someone who's major state of impurity is in his hands and doesn't get out of it (like a person after sexual intercourse) such a person cannot touch the quraanb, bcz for such a person, he/she has the ability to get out of the state of major impurity, so he/she cannot touch the quraan.

Therefore the woman in menstruation can touch the quraan but a person (male or female) who is in the state of major impurity due to a wet dream, or afte having sexual intercourse, they cannot, bcz the woman's cannot just ''get out'' of her state of major impurity (menstruation), rather it is in the hands of ALlaah...

group 2 say) nyone who is the state of major impurity cannot touch the quraan.
