If the du’a is combined with the following factors:

Abu Talib

Feeling low
Ibn al-Qayyim:

If the du’a is combined with the following factors:

The presence of the heart, and its full concentration on the du’a
Making du’a at one of the times of response
A meek heart, one that is broken and humiliated in the presence of Allah, full of humbleness and softness
Facing the qiblah
In a state of wudu
Raising one’s hands to Allah
Starting the du’a with praise to Allah
Following that up with salutations upon the Prophet (salallahu ‘alayhi wassalam)
Preceding the du’a with repentance and seeking forgiveness for past sins
Preceding the du’a by giving some charity
and finally entering in upon Allah, and being persistent in asking Him, and calling upon Him in a state of fear and hope, and performing tawassul with His Names and Attributes

This du’a is hardly ever left, but rather responded to, especially if the du’a is using the supplications that the Prophet (salallahu ‘alayhi wassalam) informed are likely to be responded to.

Ya Rab! Forgive me..
Asalamualaykum,

So here is something that I have thought about which relates to the above...
If someone who is pious in front of Allah, some one whom Allah is pleased with makes a certain dua with all of the criteria mentioned above (because we are TOLD that Allah will accept our dua), is the following possible:
The dua from this man or woman is that Allah forgive ALL the Ummah for their past or future sins and save us from the punishment in the grave and grant us all Jannah. It is possible that we will ALL be forgiven and go to Jannah? Its actually quite a complex question if you think of it.
Becasue on one side - we have the fact that ALLAH keeps His promises and has promised to answer our dua especially when these conditions are fulfilled, but on the other hand if such a dua is made, it will rule out punishment for our sins...
Is it even allowed for me to ask such a question?!?

No sister. Allah answers our dua. He has assured us of that.

Sometimes that answer is no.

Allah has assured us that He listens to those who call upon Him. But that doesn't mean He will hand us what we ask for.

We must understand the difference between "accept" and "answer" as it pertains to our duas in this life (in Jannat...that is a perfect world for those who act righteously).

:wasalam:,

sister, did u mean that by forgiving all for everything.. those who prayed 5 times, gave zakat, had sabr, avoided sex/alcohol/bank interest and ones who just *enjoyed the life to the full* and who never cared to seek Allah's forgiveness or prepare for jannah to be put on the same scale.

but we should remember that Allah is Most Just too.
