Salam aleikum

Inchallah if anyone can answer me to my questions, i am more then happy to read.

I want to ask if the Quran contains the advice for women to cover the face, like for wearing niqab or burqa. If is like this, means we, the muslim women that do not cover face, wearing simple hijab, we dont fully obey islam....and on other hand, if covering complete face is just a choice , why the niqaby women living here in western countrys are taking big risks in wearing ?

And there are countrys where burqa is obligatory ?

Noone should be forced to do anything against their will, inchallah and i respect very much the modesty in muslims women, that weare proper hijab or niqab.

Thank you for reading and may Allah help us all.

And there are countrys where burqa is obligatory ?

Asalam walaikum,

I always thought it was mandatory in Saudi Arabia because I've heard of non-Muslim women going there (for whatever reason) and complaining about having to wear it. On the opposite end of the spectrum, recently some European countries have banned wearing them.

why the niqaby women living here in western countrys are taking big risks in wearing ?

I guess they weigh the benefits of being modest against the risks of wearing it. But that's just from a male's perspective. Truth be told, I very rarely see a woman with her entire face covered where I live (Maybe like once every 2 to 4 months).

Peace and blessings,

Covering the face has been a matter of debate between scholars for centuries, so It'll be incorrect to blame those who are convinced of either choices.

The majority of the Muslim scholars say that the obligatory hijab is the correct covering of the entire body save the face and the hands.
Some others, are convinced that the face and the hands aren't excluded. Both parties prove for what they say with Quran and hadiths and I've read for both of them.

The most interesting book I've read about that subject is "The veil of the Muslim Woman" written by our late scholar Al Albani. It is interesting because the author didn't foist in his feelings and the like. Just proven statements, solid proof and open challenge.

Soon after the release of the book, which created tremendous noise in the Muslim world, women began to shake their heads, some people tried to ban the book!

As a reaction, books and booklets have been written by those who disagreed with Al Albani, the partisans of covering the face and the hands. Not only they attacked his opinions, but they attacked his person, his background, his race..Some people even linked him to Zionism!

The late scholar replied to the enraged subjective writings in another book which wasn't translated to the English language as far as I know. We call it "the second book of hijab", in Arabic, the title is: الرد المفحم.

Anyway, the book was another well built reply but it was very complicated because it was meant for students.

You can find the first book on-line in some Islamic library or database, it's a good read for everybody. In it you'll find the ayats, the hadiths, the sayings of the companions and the opinions of the scholars.

So it boils down to this: The scholars say: It is correct to wear what covers everything but the face and the hands and it is better to cover the rest. You'll be rewarded if you do it, and you'll not be punished if you don't do it.

And as you have stated, the main goal is modesty and less trouble.

Peace and blessings.

Salam aleikum, thank you for answer and help. I asked this because i see wearing burqa and niqab in european countrys brings much trouble and attention, thing that nullifys the whole purpouse of full covering, wich is exactly to protect one self from the harm of others, especially men. Allah knows best our intentions. These times are not easy for muslims. So for sure there are no countrys where burqa is obligatory ? I was wondering if the womans that dont obey this rule there have the same treatment as our niqaby sisters have here...

walaykum salaam sister, I don't think having people staring, questioning and being curious nullifies the whole purpose of Hijab. The purpose of hijab is to identify the woman as a Muslim woman, meaning a woman who is obeying her Creator and to protect her from unwanted lusts of men. Even if the niqab and hijab bring trouble and attention, what do you want a sister to do? take it off? Who is she supposed to please? the people or Allah? The trouble and negative attention is just part of the tests a Muslim woman goes through. Even sisters who don't wear Niqab and only wear hijab face prejudice, injustice and negative attention all the time. So alhamdulilah it all depends on the sister and her strength and iman. Some women who are very strong and who can withstand all the negative attention and even physical harm still wear their niqabs despite of what they're going through because they're more interested in pleasing their Lord(Allah).

Where I live, very few women cover their faces, and they're all married, very few exceptions do exist. And yes they are segregated by the other Muslims, men and women alike. The same thing happens in the other Muslim countries, maybe KSA has got higher rates.

So, if our own people do not understand and accept niqab, why do we blame those who haven't got a clue!?

Peace and blessings.

Salam aleikum, dear sister, ofcourse a muslimah should not take off her hijab no matter how anyone alse treats her, i weare hijab also alhamdulillah, but i was asking the islamic rules about niqab and burqa, wich, unlike the hijab that lets the face uncovered, the burqa is Ilegal in some countrys here in europe, so there is a clear difference and a more risky situation, beeing ilegal i dont expect respect from police no matter how much civilized they are, they dont care... It is completly sad, unjust and cruel that one can walk free half naked, but the sisters that choose to have even more shyness are suffering traumas...this is the reality we live in and if i choose to weare niqab, will i make the right decision ...? Or.. I do respect my Creator and His laws maintaining the proper hijab ? From the answer of the brother above i understand the opinions are separated according to different scholars, i will try read the book recomended, inchallah.
