Wasting time is worse than death!



Ibn Al Qayyim (Ra) says: "Wasting time is worse than death because death seperates you from this world whereas wasting time seperates you from Allah".


Therefore we must make the best use of the precious little time we have left for death is waiting for us around each corner and it will take us very swiftly without delay. It will not wait for us to change tomorrow ore next week. It will take us when our time is up. So when will we decide to change? When it is too late?

So we must act NOW before death takes us for we are gambling with our hereafter! In the next world we will beg Allah for one more chance but by then it would have been too late!

Therefore let us make the necessery changes to our lives right NOW! For tomorrow may never come!

The time is the life of the servant, it was said by a poet

"...and the time is the most precious thing that you can have concern for preserving--and I see that it is the easiest thing which can be wasted"

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said:

"The wasting of time is more severe than death. That is because the matter of death cuts you off from the worldly life whereas the wasting of time cuts you off from Allaah"

The time is the capital of your wealth. That is because your life which Allaah has decreed for you, He wants that you attain with it the honor of the Deen and the bliss of the hereafter. Therefore if you waste it, the reality of your worldly life will be wasted as well as your hereafter being plundered. There is no (worldly) loss greater upon the servant than the wasting of his time.

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said (what means):

"Take advantage of 5 things before 5 things overcome you: Take advantage of your youth before your old age. Take advantage of your health before your sickness. Take advantage of of you life before your death. Take advantage of your richness before you poverty, and take advantage of your free time before becoming preoccupied." [Narrated by al-Haakim on the authority of Ibn Abbaas.]

So the question stands:

Is the wasting of these prize possessions to be considered from the happiness of the Muslim? Therefore with the time the Muslim has the ability to capitalize off of everything that has been mentioned in the hadeeth....

indeed, this was very helpful. but I would like to ask a very simple question, is playing games considered as wasting time? Jazak'Allah khair for answering

The Slipping Sands of Time

The Exact Time He knows,
When we’ll meet.
Life is short for preparations,
With uncertain final decorations,
Like sand we slip through life’s watch glass,
Silently seeping with gradual movements.

With kohl of gratitude tears,
Mascara of modesty,
Lotion of honesty,
Let us deck ourselves,
In an attire of simplicity,
And forget the worldly woes,
Moving towards the Hereafter.

Pin up the flowing locks,
And lock all worldly locks,
The breeze summons the stony roads,
To move on to the horizon,
And sprinkle the scent of goodness.
Leaves fall like fountains in spring,
Blurred is life’s dusk.

Each day opens a new page,
Of an unknown tale,
Engraved in the rock of time,
Indecipherable script of life.
Let not the sand slip away,
With no time left for goodbyes,
Let us pray before being prayed upon,
Let us turn to Allah before returning to Him.

Hasan Ali Basri (Ra) Said:

What is this world but a dream that a sleeper sees. He delights in it for a few moments, and then wakes up to face reality.
