Hello,

My name is Emily. I am curious about Islam. I'm not sure I can say that I am interested in converting for certain, but it might be possible. I've been reading about Islam and have watched some documenaries on tv and I am certainly interested. I wanted to learn more before I think about becoming a Muslim though.

Well, it is very strange for me. I have always been an atheist. I grew up in a non-practicing Christian household. A year ago I broke up with my boyfriend of eight years after I discovered he was cheating on me.

The thing that sparked my curiousity the most was I attended a lecture about Islam at the university I work at. Since then I have been interested in knowing more.

Islam is a religion based purely on Tawheed (Oness of Allah) and Finality of Prophet Muhammad:saw:. I will suggest you study these in depth before you go for anything else. For anything or idea there is a foundation without which the whole idea is null and void. Go for the foundation if you seek to understand Islam.

Good Luck and hope you enjoy and benefit from your research, if I may call it.

You're "interested". I think that's all that matters for now. :) The best we can do is provide authentic sources for you and encourage you to search in the right direction.

The Islam Library is definitely the best place to start. Particularly these five sections,

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm glad you brought up names. I have heard of people who convert to Islam and change their names to something in Arabic. Would I have to do that? If I did would I choose it myself? I'm not sure if I would want to part with my name...but Aisha is a very pretty name!

It is not required, unless your name means something that goes against Islam, like trinity (I don't know if it's a name lol).

If you want to change it, then you can choose for yourself.

This is how you PM. Click Inbox. It is on the top right corner of your page. See the green rectangle:Untitled.png

Hover your mouse over it, and click start new conversation.

Also, you can click a person's username (e.g Seeking Allah's Mercy), in the pop window you get:
123.pngClick View conversation. Put a title or subject. Write a message, scroll down click send and ta da! I get a PM from you lol
