Are there sections in Islam? Many of us are confused on which sections to follow. Some when asked about their religion( what)? They will answer I'm a shafei, hanbali, maliki, wahabi etc. Instead they/we should answer proudly that I'm a Muslim.
I hope this video will help clear our misconceptions both the Muslims as well as the non-muslims.

i dissagree withthe speaker did not tell the whole truth the verse said there will be 73 sects and all of them will be in the hellfire apart from 1 and the muslims around him said "which is the saved sect" he said "that which i and my companion(salaf) are on today" so we are instructed to follow the the the quran and the sunna and the salaf in belife and in action to make clear to sincere muslims not to follow the 72 astray groupsby calling our sunni or salafi

"truth4real" I understand what you mean. Yes, its true that there's a verse on the sections. The lecturer didn't mention on that tho, but that doesn't mean what he's saying is not correct. He said we should follow/ refer to the Quran as well as the sunna. About the sections, how do we know which section is the correct of all... Hence instead of labelling ourselves with shafei, hanbali, maliki, wahabi, etc., we should just call ourselves as Muslim. I think you should listen to lecture again.

I hope what I'm saying here make sense.

Unfortunately, I am not able to see the video on the computer I am currently on, but your above statement is NOT CORRECT. There is a big difference between Sunni muslims who follow the Quran and Sunnah, and the shia rawafidh who are innovators.

Woah, instead of sunni and shiah, replace them with hanafi and salafi, and i think thats what she meant. Just the wrong choice of sects!

salam sis okay say we just called our self muslim and a new muslism wanted to buy some books or dvds and there was a muslim shop but it was shia or sufi and they agreed to what the the zakar nike was saying so they just put muslim book shop on the front and then that person got all his knowledge from that shop because it was the nearest one to them and then he ended up beliving bad about aisha or abu bakr or umar or she ended up praying to a sheik in his grave because some soofis do that then me or you would be responsible thats why i call my self sunni or salafi because any one can wriite a book with ayats of quran or hadiths but it is pointless and haram full if ytou dont under stand it how the companions and the rest of the salaf understood it

theres a versue in the quran that says "Allah dose nt burden a soul more that it can bare" now thats quran and sunna

now say a muslim comes along reads that veruse and says okay Allah says she dose nt make a soul bare more than it can do so i dont have to wear hijab becaue its to hard or i dont have to pray, or i dont have to fast,or pay zakat, sis get what im saying

see thats quran and sunna but we know thats not how its understood because the salaf the companions never understood it like that

Of course, no-one is debating that at all!

But who does not claim to follow the Quran and sunnah?
You see so many sects who do, but they are not all right, and they WILL burn in the hellfire as the hadeeth of tirmidhi says.

So what Zakir Naik was saying is that you follow the Quran and sunnah, then you are muslim, just as Muhammed(peace and blessings be upon him) and the sahabi were. And so call yourself muslim like our beloved prophet and the salaf as salih.

Because wasn't there a lecture of sh.Albaani about this and he rahimullah said it's permissible for one to say i'm salafi, or if u prefer to say ' I follow the quran and sunnah according the salafu salah ' then that's okay too.
My question is : is there anything wrong with calling myself salafi??(someone who follows the quran and sunnah according the salaf) because i'm not following a sect.. just the prophet s.a.w salafusalah

it just do not make sense when someone says things abt taqlid when they do not realise some taqlid contemporary salafi scholars

i know what u mean the 4 imams are salafis ...So we cannot be salafis but instead follow the salaf..But nowadays followers of mazhab do not say they follow the salaf, they say they follow the mazhabs...

Not to worry im not saying u say that the 4 imams do not follow quran and sunna..but some people are telling people not to follow the mazhabs blindly.

About sourcing ourselves from the quran and sunna , we have to be very careful. Some hadith are not that straight forward , u cannot take literal meanings of it...

thats why u need the mazhab brother...You have just proven we need the mazhab because we need certain skills to understand the quran n hadith..

even some well known collector of hadith follow mazhab... whats more us ....How is our islamic knowledge comparable to them...MashAllah...
