Sharing, life change as a muslim

I would like to start this thread by sharing something and also asking and hearing more about how peoples lives changed when they became muslims.

I have myself not been a muslim for very long but I can only say that the more I read the Quran the more peace within I feel.

If I may get more personal and share something.

I myself have for many years had heavy problems with alcohol, lost many things because of it. Jobs, friends and so on.
I had tried to stop drinking for many years but never made it for more then a few days at the best both alone or when old friends tried to be there and support.

At the end when you fail over and over again not only not drinking but you fail to other people.

I now want to share with all my brothers and sisters that sence I reverted to islam I have never drank a drop of alcohol. I feel that I now can look forward in life in away I never could for many years.

I can only see the reason for explaining that I been able not to drink is by the power of Allah!

I thank Allah for this everyday and Mohammed peace by upon him for giving my the words of Allah.

Brother Erik, May Allah keep you steadfast in islam...ameen

Busy yourself with learning about islam and months will go by without you even thinking about the drink inshallah.

You will not miss it, it will seem like a different life. My non muslim days certainly do seem like a different life.

Stay strong brother, and if shaytaan gets t you, just turn to Allah, pick up your quran and read.

Assalamu aliakum brother Erik!

first of all, its very nice to hear from you after a long time.
secondly, i am so pleased that you can already feel the benefits of the faith in such a short time. inshaallah, you will feel many more gooness and alot of peace and happiness in life and hope for the future, not only in this world, but hope for the hereafter too.

when you feel that shaitan (devil) is tempting you in something from your past, such as alcohol, turn to Allah swt and pray to him. that will certainly give you a world of happiness and peace.
inshaallah, i know there is no need to tell you this as you know very well, but as a brother, i just remind ourselves to stay in touch wiht our creator.

may Allah swt bless you and grant you peace
wassalamu alaikum warhmatullah

Everyone has their own jihad (internal struggle) in life, but if you turn to the Creator, He will guide you and provide you strength.

I want to thank all for there replies, I try to visit the forum as often as I can, as one can see, what I wrote didnt gain much to you, but I wrote and shared it because it helped me! , sometimes you just have to tell someone or speak.
not ment to be ego but my alcoholism is not a joke, I tried to read about it and its the hardest drug to leave, stop smooking is easy compared, any other hard drugs is way more easy then to stop smooking.
I have still not drank a drop sence I reverted but offcourse I felt it, my mind or brain dont want alcohol, its now my body that wants alcohol.

If I may go on even thought this forum is about Islam? Alcohol will never do anything good, its straight from hell, it will wreck anything and everything in time and it never stops , If any brother or sister have a drinking problem, I hope non have, try to leave it now and not later, it will only get worse and finally it takes over your life and you will loose alot more then a job.

Again , I want to thank all but especially Aisha1114 for the strenght Allah gave her to share also!
I am truly happy that such thougt now are in the past.
Thank you sister for sharing and if you ever feel down again let your friends and family know.

Wasalam. /Erik
