I need some answers

Pardon me for barging in like this but I have some real issues I need some help with. I have tried in other places to find out what I need but unfortunatly people will believe what they are told because they are afraid it is the truth.

I work in a prison I have about 5 muslims on my yard. I have tried in the past to make sure in no way do I violate their religion inadvertantly or on purpose as it is a violation of my religion to do so.

Last year during Ramadon I refused to pat search people of the muslim faith because I felt it to be wrong. I became hypervigilant about the serfaces used to prepare thier meals making sure no meat products had touched it first.

After Ramadon I had to return to pat searches because I no longer had a valid excuse not to touch them but still will try to make sure I have a male officer present to do it instead unfortunatly that is not always possible.

I have been made fun of because of my caution with not violating the muslim religion but must admitt I do not know much about it and am afraid I may be violating it in other ways. I have found people of the muslim or islam religion to be peacfull and very respectfull of woman contrary to what I hear.

Please understand I do the same for others in different religions but must admitt these particular people are special to me because they are so peacefull and the way they conduct themselves. I have seen them beaten and persecuted and never see anything but them praying and looking sad when this happens to them. I am trying to figure out all this violence stuff I keep hearing about because I only see a peacfull person.

Hi:

First let me thank you for taking this issue to your attention. I believe you must report those incidents to the senior prison officer, or the Home Office directly. It is not fair for a peaceful individual whether he is a muslim or not to be treated in such manner, but it hurts even more when I know he is a muslim. I respect your understanding to the situation and not taking any part in violating Islam or muslims in your prison yard, but if you don't report it others will treat islam and muslims in a bad manner. I hope you can take this issue further, because innocent people are being beaten and mistreated for being muslims, but Allah (SWT) will take care of them, but hopefully you can continue your kindness and ensure an end to this humilations.

It is so nice and refreshing to hear a voice of reason and kindness to us. - Indeed, any true Muslim should be peaceful and also keep the rememberance of Allah as much as possible. - and it is an obligation for Muslims to pray 5x.

If the Muslim prisoners are being abused, or any prisoner is being abused whether by the prison guards or by other prisoners, it is important that it is reported to the authorities and something is done about it. Also, if there is any discrimination, this too must be dealt with.

Unfortunately, sometimes people do fall foul of the law for various things, and so end up in prison. However, inshaAllah, they will be reformed and be good.

Sometimes, many prisoners even accept Islam and find new life, alhamdulillah.

I would suggest that you carry on coming to the forums here, so you can learn more about Islam and about the muslim people.

It is important for you to see and read about the important beliefs Muslim should have such as our belief in Allah. - And the various Prophets. Muslims believe in all the Prophets mentioned in the Bible, Abraham Moses and of course Jesus, and his blessed mother the Virgin Mary.

However, unlike Christianity, we do not split God into three, or call Jesus God. We simply worship Allah alone, without associating any partners with him. - And we follow the last and final Messenger sent by Allah to mankind, the Prophet Muhammad . Peace be upon him.

I am bothered by the fact that I do not know much about this religion and I am afraid that I may inadvertantly violate your religion. No one has said anything to me The people I deal with are very quiet and even if I made a mistake would not tell me with good reason when I take into account how they are treated.

I found out by accident about them being touched by a woman who is not married to them and corrected my behavior so as not to do anything that would give them cause for unpure thoughts actually learning this taught me alot about how to act or rather how to avoid the occation of inpure thoughts in myself. I still have to touch them every now and then but I try to appologise first. I usualy just get a smile or a look of shock so I am not sure that is right.

There has been many times thier Karan (sp) was confiscated for different reasons but it always felt wrong to hold it although I thought a few times about reading it to find out if I was doing something wrong. I never did because I felt that it would be a violation just to touch it.

I just dont want to do anything that violates your religion as that to me is a violation of my religion but like I said it is hard to know.

So I decided to come to you who know what your religion is all about and boy was that a search.... there is more fear out there than I thought and when I tried to point out what I had observed over a few years it was ignored for popular propoganda. I just need to know how I can help them observe their religion with out violating it.

Well there is for sure something behind their peaceful behaviour and their patience for sure.

It's their Islam for sure. Because if we bear with patience and behave properly then we have fulfilled our duty as muslims (muslim means the one who submits to the Will of the Almighty God - in arabic Allah - the one and only God, whom by they way the christian arabs call Him also Allah).

But it is very kind of you that you show good manners towards them and
care about them.

Have you any knowledge of Islam from it own sources, like the Qur'an?
If not then you should get a copy of the traslation of the meaning of the Qur'an and you will find the best answer (and many more anwers) there!

unfortunatly I have tried to bring these things to their attention but was ignored. We are law enforcement but have no rules except those we were forced to adopt through court actions.

I am trying through my own actions how to treat people of other faiths and in small ways have improved the yard I work on with the help of God. For the most part the other officers only violate anothers religion through ignorance. I am only trying to do what I can to set a good example.

why dont you try to read and study the source of their believe to understand why they are peaceful and respectful to women......try to read the Qur'an translated by "Abdullah Yusuf Ali" and see for yourself if what you have heard about islam is true or not.

What you did was probably appropriate, about the touching of muslims opposite sex, and the Al Quran...
The only thing I would like to add, I appeal to you to clean(with tab water) your hands, mouth, nose, the front hair, ears, and even your feet before you touch the Al Quran.
In Islam, it is called "wudhu", with intention to purify our body from the minor dirt around us, of course, with the help of God.
This is just a request which could symbolize respect to the Al Quran.
Believe, we do not pray to Al Quran, but we take care of the book with great respect and honour.
That's all.
