I only reverted a few weeks ago and felt very overwhelmed at first (English is my native language as well). I spent a week or so reading everything off a piece of paper, and slowly I began to remember bits and pieces without having to look at the paper. It will definitely come to you with time...

Fortunately, my family doesn't do much for Halloween. My daughter got a Happy 1st Halloween card from her grandparents (she's 7 months old). A few months ago, I bought a costume for her just for fun... but then I reverted just a few weeks ago!
