Surah Al Ikhlas, also known as The Sincerity, The Purity, and Surah Tawheed, is one of the most significant chapters in the Quran. The 112th chapter of the Quran, known as Surah Ikhlas Ayat,

consists of four verses that stress Allah’s unity and oneness. Some scholars think this Surah was revealed during the battle between Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Quraysh when they contested the unique characteristics of the deity worshipped by Muhammad (PBUH). However,

it is not just the name of this Surah but also the title of its contents that emphasize Tawheed (the undeniable notion of monotheism and the oneness of Allah).

Surah Ikhlas story

In response to a challenge from the Quraysh over the distinctive characteristics of ALLAH, Muhammad reportedly asked them to worship.

Therefore, Surah al-Ikhlas is titled as such because it is devoted solely to the teachings of Tawhid.

although Al-Ikhlas refers just to its title, it is also the name of this Surah’s content because it is all about Tawhid.

One-third of the Quran may be recited by reciting al-Ikhlaas.

Al-Bukhari To support its assertion that a third of the Quran is included in the third chapter of the book of Allah, Sahih Al-Bukhari contains several Hadiths. One-third of the Quran could be memorized in one night by the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). After their shaky response, he remarked that Surah Al-Ikhlas is one-third of the Holy Quran.

In Paradise, Allah will build a palace.

As the Prophet (PBUH) stated in Musnad Ahmad, those who complete the entire Surah Al-Ikhlaas 10 times would get a palace in Heaven from Allah. Furthermore, in Sahih Al-Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) said that a man’s affection for Surah Ikhlaas would lead him to Jannah.

Allah’s greatest name

Surah Al-Ikhlas is said to contain Allah’s most excellent name, according to a Hadith in Sunan Abi Dawud. Therefore, a request made using it will result in an answer, and a request made in response to it will also result in an answer.

Allah adores one who recites Surah al-Ikhlaas.

A guy who enjoyed reciting the Surah Al-Ikhlaas in Salah, according to Sahih Al-Bukhari, was praised by the Prophet (PBUH).

Surah Ikhlas as protection

Every night before going to sleep, the Prophet (PBUH) would cup his hands together, recite the al ikhlas surah, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas, and blow over it, following which he would massage his hands over as much of his body as he could. Similarly, the Prophet (PBUH) instructed us to recite these three surahs every night in Musnad Ahmad (as well).

surah al ikhlas tafsir

And now, the Tafsir of the Surah al-Ikhlas is complete.

1. Say: He is Allah, the One!

The monotheism of Allah is proclaimed in this passage. All types of polytheism and idolatry are ruled out by this statement. Only Allah is referred to as “The One” in the Quran, where the term “Ahad” means “The One.” Allah explains: [2] If there were Allah’s other than Allah in the heavens and the earth, they would have been destroyed. Allah, the Lord of the Throne, is so magnificent that they can’t even begin to explain it.

There are no companions, partners, or assistance for Allah. Only Allah is deserving of worship; hence all praise and adoration must be offered to Him. “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him,” states Allah in Surah al-Isra.

2. Allah, the Eternal, the Absolute!

One of Allah’s Perfect qualities is mentioned in this verse: As-Samad. Another one of Allah’s names is As-Samad.

Translators of the Quran have referred to Allah as The Eternal Refuge, The Self-Sufficient, The Absolute, and the One on Whom All Creation Depends and to Whom All Creation Turns for Fulfillment of Their Desires and Needs.

As a result, while the entire world is reliant on Allah to meet its basic necessities, Allah himself needs no one. “Truly, my Lord is free from all wants and supreme in honor,” says the surah an-Name (verse 4).

3. He begets not, nor was He begotten

As stated in this Quran, Allah did not give birth to anybody. To put it another way, there is no beginning or end to Him. Even if Allah is the Creator of all things, no one has the capacity to create Him.

Isn’t it self-evident that Allah, the Almighty, is supreme over everything else? Well, that’s a given. Polytheists and idolaters, on the other hand, wrongly attributed to Allah partners and children (Nauzubillah!). There is no space for doubt in this respect, however, in this specific verse of Surah al-Ikhlas.

And there is none like unto Him

None of His creation was similar or similar to Him, neither in His Names, nor in His Attributes, nor in His Actions, Blessed and exalted is He, and sanctified.

surah ikhlas for kids

Our kids, regardless of whether they were born Muslims, newly converted Muslims, or ex-Muslims who reverted to Islam should be taught this Surah.

For example, a non-practicing born Muslim who disobeyed both his parents and his own intrinsic desire to follow Islam, as I witnessed him do today in Masjid, taking Shahadah.

As a result, he refused to embrace Islam as a religion.

He finally found Islam after many years of rejection, deviance, drifting, and loss. He reverted to Islam after doing extensive research and reaffirming his confidence in Allah, the One and Only Allah.

It’s clear to everyone that Allah, the All-Powerful and all-sufficiency Who has neither a spouse, son nor peer or competitor, deserves to be adored and followed.

Where was surah al ikhlas revealed?

The four verses of Surah al ikhlas were revealed in Makkah. If you recite this Surah, you get the same reward as reciting a third of the Quran. In learning portions from the Noble Quran, many Muslims begin with this Surah since it is one of the most often repeated in the Quran.

Why is surah ikhlas one-third of the Quran?

According to the following two hadiths, surah al ikhlas is equal to a third of the Qur’an.

“A guy heard another man recite (in the prayers): ‘Say (O Muhammad): “He is Allah, (the) One,”‘ Abu Said Al-Khudri said. (Qur’an 112:1), which is repeated several times.

A day after that, he went to the Prophet and told him about it in the hope that it would suffice for him to only recite the Surah on its own.

“By Him Whose Hand my life is in, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an,” said Allah’s Prophet. Al-(Sahih Bukhari’s Al-Bukhari)

Other sources report the Prophet asking his companions: “Is it difficult for any of you to recite one-third of the Qur’an in one night?” (Abu Sa’id Al–Khudi)

To which they said, ‘Who among us has the capacity to do so, O Allah’s Prophet?

Revelations of the Makkan Surahs of the Qur’an were made to affirm the oneness of Allah, the belief in Him, His Books, His Messengers, and the other pillars of religion.

According to the following two hadiths, this Surah is equal to a third of the Qur’an.

According to Abu Said Al-Khudri: “A man heard another person reciting (in the prayers): “Say (O Muhammad): “He (Allah) is (the) One.” (Quran 112:1).

So, the next day, he went back to the Prophet and told him about it, as though reciting the verse was not sufficient.

“By Him Whose Hand my life is in, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an,” said Allah’s Prophet. (Al-Prophetic Bukhari’s Tradition)

The Prophet stated to his companions, “Is it difficult for any of you to recite one-third of the Qur’an in one night?” in another hadith by Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri.

To which they said, ‘Who among us has the capacity to do so, O Allah’s Prophet?

A third of the Qur’an, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), responded. In accordance with (Sahih Al-Bukhari),

Lady ‘A’ishah narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to cup his hands together and blow into them after reciting surat al ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq, and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he could reach, starting with his head, face, and the front of his body. This is what he used to do three times.” Al-(Sahih Bukhari’s Al-Bukhari)

Overall Theme of the Surah

To all those who worship anything or anybody other than Allah, this Surah is an indictment against them. This includes those who worship idols, Jesus or ‘Uzayr or the sun or moon or any other deity.

That Allah is the only one who deserves to be worshiped, the only one who has no colleagues, the only one who has no peer, the Almighty who has no assistants, the Unrivaled who has no rival, and the One Peerless who has no equal.

Why was surah ikhlas revealed?

It is in Surah al-Ikhlaas that we find Allah’s true nature as revealed in the Quran. This Surah’s goal is to clear up any misunderstandings people may have regarding Allah. Tawheed replaces those misunderstandings with its basic reality.

In the event that someone reads this Surah and understands its meaning thoroughly, they are protected from shirk. Polytheism, or shirk, is the sole sin that cannot be forgiven in Islam.

What is the importance of surah ikhlas?

Al Ikhlas is regarded as one of Islam’s most important verses. Surah Al Ikhlas is revered by Muslims across the world and is equivalent to one-third of the whole Quran. For this reason: The oneness of Allah is the first of three fundamental concepts upon which all the Quranic teachings are predicated. Allah’s oneness is affirmed, and all types of idolatry and polytheism are ruled out by the surah al ikhlas.

Surah Al Ikhlas, the cornerstone of Islam, is based on total trust in Allah’s oneness and thus strengthens its significance. Allah, according to Islam, is the only Allah. It’s just him and a few aides.

When was surah ikhlas revealed?

Surah al ikhlas was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad during the Makkan era, making it one of Muhammad’s earliest revelations (PBUH). The Surah provides a concise yet thorough introduction to the concept of Tawheed (Oneness of Allah).

This Surah is held in greater esteem by Muslims because of evidence from the Prophet’s Sunnah (PBUH). The qualities of this Surah are so great that it’s sometimes referred to as “one-third” of the Quran.

The Meanings of Surah al-Ikhlaas and its Virtues

The 112th chapter of the Quran is known as surah ikhlas. The smallest Surah in the Quran is nonetheless one of its most essential chapters, despite only containing four lines. The first step for a new Muslim or a young Muslim is to learn this Surah. Because of its short length and rich content, Surah al-Ikhlas for youngsters is a popular choice for a recital during Salah (prayer).

A Final Word

It’s important to remember that learning Allah’s Divine Attributes is not the same as remembering them. Instead, we should use these Attributes to our advantage;

we should strive to replicate and practice them as much as we can. This is the only way we can truly benefit from them.

No one has greater patience than Allah when it comes to hearing something disagreeable, according to the Prophet. They think of Him as having a son, but in reality,

it is He Who provides for their needs and heals them.” (Al-Bukhari)

Would you be patient and kind to him if he hurt you because of this hadith?

What if you could learn from Allah’s Divine Patience and become a better person because of it?

It’s important to remember that learning Allah’s Divine Attributes is not the same as remembering them. Instead, we should use these Attributes to our advantage;

we should strive to replicate and practice them as much as we can.

There are many virtues that scholars have enumerated, coupled with evidence for the virtue of Surat Al-Ikhlas, and perhaps the most prominent of these virtues are:

  • Reciting it is equivalent to reciting a third of the Qur’an, and the evidence for that is his saying – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him-: “Is one of you unable to recite a third of the Qur’an in a night?” They said: How can he recite a third of the Qur’an?
  • Reciting it leads to paradise for its owner, and this is evidenced by the saying of Abu Hurairah – may Allah be pleased with him – that he said: “I came with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he heard a man reciting, Say: He is Allah, the One, the Eternal One. Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him: It is obligatory, so I asked him: What, Messenger of Allah? He said: Paradise, so I wanted to go to the man and give him good tidings. Then I decided that I would miss lunch with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Then I went to the man and found him gone.”

The interpreters stated that the reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Kafirun was because four infidels came to the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – and they are Al-Waleed bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi, Al-Aas bin Wael Al-Sahmi, Umayyah bin Khalaf Al-Jamahi, Al-Aswad bin Al-Muttalib, offering him to worship Allah. -Exalted be He – Sunnah provided that he participates with them in worshiping their allahs as a Sunnah.
  2. So, Surat Al-Kafirun was revealed to end and cut off all negotiations that would not achieve the perfection of the oneness of Allah – the Highest.
  3. The place of revelation of Surat Al-Kafirun. Exemption from polytheism, hypocrisy, misguidance, and Surat Worship.

When was Surah Al-Kafirun revealed?

  1. Surah Al-Ma’un has revealed in which Allah referred to the attributes of the unbelievers who deny religion, then surah kafiroon was revealed, which Allah Almighty commands to be faithful to him and to absolve from the work of the unbelievers who worshiped idols besides Allah Almighty, and to settle the negotiations that they had They resorted to it after their plans to confront the religion of Allah – the Highest – failed, and after Allah – the Highest – made it clear that there is no compromise on belief and religion, He revealed Surat Al-Fil in which he mentioned a well-known historical fact, for two reasons:
  2. The first: in order to draw the attention of the unbelievers and open Their eyes were on the elephant incident that they had taken from the year in which it occurred as a year of history so that they would say this happened in the year of the elephant, before or after it.
  3. Second: With the aim of reminding the believers, especially the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – of the weakness of the unbelievers and the aggressors, of Allah’s support and support for his army and his party, and the loftiness of truth and its emergence over falsehood.

Surat Al-Kafirun was revealed after Surat Al-Ma’un. On the purposes of Surat Al-Kafirun, the reason for its revelation and its name, and its merit.
  • The Reason for the Revelation of Surah e Al-Kafirun It was brought by the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – on the condition that the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – participate with the infidels of Quraish in worshiping their Allah of idols that do not harm, benefit or move, so he revealed this surah to end these negotiations, so there is no bargaining or discussion in the worship of the one and only And Abdullah bin Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him – narrated the reason for the revelation of this surah, saying: “The Quraysh promised the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – to give him money so that he would be the richest man in Mecca, and they would marry him as he wanted from the women, and they would step on his heels, so they said to him: This is for you with us, O Muhammad, and stop cursing our allahs, so do not mention them badly.
  • If you do not do that, we will offer you one trait, and it is yours and we have goodness in it. He said: What is it? Watch what comes from my Lord, for the revelation came from the Preserved Tablet: {قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ} qul ya ayyuhal kafirun.
  • The story was also narrated by Saeed bin Mina, the freed slave of Al-Bakhtari, by saying: “Al-Waleed bin Al-Mughirah, Al-Aas bin Wael, Al-Aswad bin Al-Muttalib and Umayyah bin Khalaf met the Messenger of Allah, and they said: O Muhammad! If what is in our hands was better than what is in your hands, you would have involved us in our matter, and you took your share from it, so Allah revealed: {Say, O you disbelievers} and Allah Almighty abolishes the surah even knowing.

Objectives of Surat Al-Kafirun

Surah Al-Kafirun consists of six verses, and it contains an explicit statement that religion is Islam and a person cannot compromise over any religion other than Islam.

In the first verse, the method of command and call, where Allah Almighty commands His Messenger – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – to call the unbelievers by the name of the unbelievers and not the polytheists, because this verse refers to the unbelievers whether they show disbelief or conceal it, so it explicitly included the hypocrites and polytheists, and in the second verse what is meant by The call and from the command of Allah Almighty His Messenger – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – to say to the unbelievers that he does not worship what you worship of false Allah, and in this, categorical denial of worshiping anything besides Allah Almighty, and the word you worship means what you worship today and tomorrow without Allah Almighty, and as for the third verse Among the purposes of Surat Al-Kafirun also in this verse is that the Messenger of Allah denounces the unbelievers to worship these Allah other than Allah Almighty.

In the fourth verse, confirmation and acquittal of the Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him – from worshiping the idols worshiped by the unbelievers, the Almighty said through His Messenger: {إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ فِي الْأَرْضِ الْفَسَادَ}.

The arrangement of Surat Al-Kafirun in the Qur’an 109, and its place in the last part of the Holy Qur’an; That is, part thirtieth. Surat Al-Kafirun was revealed after Surat Al-Ma’un. Surat Al-Kafirun was called by other names, which are: Worship, Sincerity, and Al-Qashqasha. That is the exoneration of hypocrisy and polytheism in Allah.
  • The topic of the surah and the focus of its talk was about absolving from polytheism and hypocrisy, and the importance of monotheism and worshiping Allah alone, as the polytheists asked the Prophet to worship their Allah for a year, and to worship his Allah for a year, so the surah responded to their words and their request.
  • The reason for the revelation of Surat Al-Kafirun: It came from Ibn Abbas – may Allah be pleased with him: “The Quraish called on the Messenger of Allah to give him money so that he would be the richest man in Makkah, and marry him whatever he wanted from women. If you do not do that, then worship our Allah as a Sunnah. He said: Until I see what comes to me from my Lord, so Allah sent down (Say, O you who disbelieve) to the end of the surah.

  • You read in the two units of circumambulation, and the evidence for that is what Jabir bin Abdullah – may Allah be pleased with him – said: The Messenger of Allah – may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him -: “He used to recite in the two rak’ahs: Say, He is Allah, One, and say, O you unbelievers.
  • It is read in Sunan al-Maghrib, and on the authority of Ibn Umar – may Allah be pleased with them: that the Messenger of Allah: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him: He recited in the two rak’ahs before dawn and the two rak’ahs after Maghrib a few twenty times, or a few ten times, say, O unbelievers, And say Allah is one.”
  • Reciting while sleeping, and evidence of this is that the Prophet said: “Recite while you sleep. Say, O you unbelievers.” He said: Then sleep on its conclusion, for it is absolution from polytheism.

Therefore, if one of us falls into evil or wrongdoing, he should pray, as Allah – Glory be to Him, the Highest – said: Call upon Me, and I will respond to you. All you have to do is trust in Allah and pray for the one who wronged you, and Allah will take your right from him.

And he will avenge you, so how does that happen with a prayer for the doom of the unjust in Surat Al-Kafirun?

When was surah ar Rahman revealed?

Surat al-Rahman is a Meccan surah, but it was revealed in Medina, and some hadiths confirm and indicate that according to some traditions which have been cited on the authority of Hadrat Abdullah bin Abbas, Ikrimah, and Qatadah, it was revealed at Madinah. But, firstly, there are also some other traditions from these very authorities, which contradict this view; secondly, its subject matter bears a closer resemblance with the Makki Surahs than with the Madani Surahs; rather it appears to belong to the very early Makkah period. However, several authentic traditions testify that it had been revealed in Makkah itself many years before the hijra.

Surat Al-Rahman was revealed in Mecca, and it was one of the first chapters to be revealed there, and it was revealed before Surat Al-Hijr and Al-Ahqaf.

There’s information in Musnad Ahmad that’s a tradition from Hadarat Asma, daughter of Abu Bakr (may Allah bless them both), to the effect: “I saw the Messenger of Allah offering his Prayers in the sacred precincts of the Ka’bah facing the corner in which the “Black Stone” is fixed. This relates to the time when the Divine Command, fasda bi-ma tumor (“So, proclaim publicly, O Prophet, what you are being commanded”) had not yet been revealed. The polytheists at that time we’re hearing the words, Fa-biayyi alaa’i Rabbi kuma tukadhdhi ban, being recited by him in the Prayer.” This shows that Surah had been sent down even before Surah Al-Hijr.

Al-Bazzar, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Al-Mundhir, Daraqutni (in Al Afrad), Ibn Marduyah and Ibn Al Khatib (in At- Tarikh) have related, on the authority of Hadrat Abdullah bin Umar, that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited Surah Ar-Rahman himself, or heard it recited before him: then he said to the people: How is it that I am not hearing from you the kind of good answer that the jinn had given to their Lord? When the people asked what it was he replied: “As I recited the Divine Words, Fa bi-ayyi alaa’i Rabbi-kuma tukadhdhiban, the jinn in response would repeat the words La bi shai’in min ni’mati Rabbi-na nukadhdhib: ‘We do not deny any of our Allah’s blessings.”

There are some talks related by Tirmidhi, Hakim, and Hafiz Abu Bakr al-Bazzar from Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah. Their tradition contains these words: “When the people kept silent on hearing the Surah Ar-Rahman, the Holy Prophet said, ‘I recited this very Surah before the jinn in the night when they had gathered together to hear the Quran. They responded to it better than you have. As I recited the Divine Words, Fa bi ayyi ala’i Rabbikuma tukadzdzibaan (“O jinn and men, which blessings of your Allah will you deny?”) they would respond to it, saying: “O our Allah, do not deny any of your blessings Praise is for You alone” ‘!”

There is an incident of reciting sora e Rehman in Mecca as:

Ibn Ishaq has related this to the authority of Hadrat Urwah bin Zubair: The Companions one day said to one another: “The Quraish have never heard anyone recite the Quran publicly to them, and who would read out the Divine Word aloud to them? Hadrat Abdullah bin Masud said that he would. The Companions expressed the apprehension that he might be subjected to harsh treatment and said that it should better be done by a person of a powerful family, who would protect him if the Quraish tried to subject him to violence. Hadrat Abdullah said: ‘Let me alone: my Protector is Allah.’ So early next morning he went to the Kaaba while the Quraish chiefs were sitting in their respective conferences. Hadrat Abdullah arrived at the Maqam (station of Abraham) and began to recite sora e Rehman raising his voice as he did so. The Quraish first tried for a while to understand what he was saying. Then, when they realized that it was the Word that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was representing as the Word of God, they fell upon him and began to hit him in the face. But Hadrat Abdullah was not deterred: he continued to receive the slaps and to read the Quran as long as he could. At last, when he returned with a swollen face, the Companions said that they apprehended the same. He replied: ‘God’s enemies were never so light for me as they were today. If you say I’ll recite the Quran to them again tomorrow.’ They all said, ‘No, you have done enough; you have made them listen to what they didn’t want to hear.'” (Ibn Hisham, vol. 1, p. 336).

Surah Rahman translation

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

  1. (Allah) Most Gracious!
  2. It is He Who has taught the Quran.
  3. He has created man:
  4. He has taught him speech (and intelligence).
  5. The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed.
  6. And the herbs and the trees – both (alike) prostrate in adoration.
  7. And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice),.
  8. So that ye may not transgress (due) balance.
  9. So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance.
  10. It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures:
  11. Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates);
  12. Also, corn, with (its) leaves, and stalks for fodder and sweet-smelling plants.
  13. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  14. He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery,
  15. And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke:
  16. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  17. (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Allah of the two Wests:
  18. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  19. He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together:
  20. Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress:
  21. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  22. Out of them come Pearls and Coral:
  23. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  24. And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains:
  25. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  26. All that is on earth will perish:
  27. But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty, and Honour.
  28. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  29. Of Him seeks (its need) every creature in the heavens and on earth: every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)!
  30. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  31. Soon shall We settle your affairs, O both ye worlds!
  32. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  33. O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass!
  34. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  35. On you will be sent (O ye evil ones twain!) a flame of fire (to burn) and a smoke (to choke): no defense will ye have:
  36. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  37. When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes red like ointment:
  38. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  39. On that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin.
  40. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  41. (For) the sinners will be known by their marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.
  42. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  43. This is the Hell which the Sinners deny:
  44. In its midst and during boiling water will they wander round!
  45. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  46. But for such as fear the time when they will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will be two Gardens-
  47. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?-
  48. Containing all kinds (of trees and delights);-
  49. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?-
  50. In them (each) will be two Springs flowing (free);
  51. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  52. In them will be Fruits of every kind, two and two.
  53. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  54. They will recline on Carpets, whose inner linings will be of rich brocade: the Fruit of the Gardens will be near (and easy to reach).
  55. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  56. In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;
  57. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  58. Like unto Rubies and coral.
  59. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  60. Is there any Reward for Good – other than Good?
  61. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  62. And besides these two, there are two other Gardens,
  63. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  64. Dark green in color (from plentiful watering).
  65. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  66. In them (each) will be two Springs pouring forth water in continuous abundance:
  67. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  68. In them will be Fruits, dates, and pomegranates:
  69. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  70. In them will be fair (Companions), good, beautiful;
  71. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  72. Companions restrained (as to their glances), in (goodly) pavilions;
  73. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  74. Whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;
  75. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  76. Reclining on green Cushions and rich Carpets of beauty.
  77. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  78. Blessed be the name of thy Lord, full of Majesty, Bounty, and Honour.

Surah ar Rahman Tafseer

By Abul A’la Maududi

This Surah is entitled Ar Rahman, the word with which it begins. This title, however, deeply relates to the subject matter of the Surah too, for in it, from the beginning to the end, the manifestations and fruits of Allah’s attribute of mercy and grace have been mentioned. (Surah Rahman)

It’s Tafseer:

This is the only Surah of the Quran in which besides men the jinn also, who are the other creatures of the earth endowed with freedom of will and action, have been directly addressed, and both men and jinn have been made to realize the wonders of Allah’s power, His countless blessings, their helplessness and accountability before Him, and have been warned of the evil consequences of His disobedience and made aware of the best results of His obedience. (Surah Rahman).

Although at several other places in the Quran there are clear pointers to show that as the men the jinn too are a creation who have been endowed with freedom of will and action and are accountable, who have been granted the freedom of belief and unbelief, of obedience and disobedience, and among them too there are the believers and the unbelievers, the obedient and the rebellious, as among human beings, and among them too there exist, such groups, as have believed in the Prophets sent by Allah and in the Divine Books, this Surah points out that the message of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the Quran is meant both for men and jinn and that his Prophethood is not restricted to human beings alone.

The themes of the Surah have been couched in brief sentences in a specific sequence:

  • In vv. 1-4 it has been stated that the teaching of the Qur’an is from Allah Almighty and it is the very demand of His mercy that He should guide mankind through this teaching, for it is He Who has created man as a rational and intelligent being. (Surah Rahman).
  • In vv. 5-6 it has been said that the whole system of the Universe is functioning under Allah’s Sovereignty and everything in the earth and heavens is subject to His Command alone.
  • In vv. 7-9, another important truth that has been expressed is that Allah has established the entire system of the Universe precisely and equitably on justice, and the nature of this system requires that those who dwell in it also should adhere to justice within the bounds of their authority and should not disturb the balance.
  • In vv. 10-25 besides mentioning the wonders and excellence of Allah’s might, references have been made to His those bounties from which the jinn and men are a deriving benefit.
  • In vv.26-30 both the men and the jinn have been reminded of the truth that in this Universe no one except One God is immortal and imperishable, and there is none, from the lowest to the highest, who does not require God for his survival and other requirements. Whatever is happening here, from the earth to the heavens, is happening under His administration and control. (Surah Rahman).
  • In vv. 31-36 both the groups have been warned that the time is fast approaching when they will be called to account, which they will not be able to avoid, for God’s Kingdom is encircling them from every side; it is not in their power to flee it; if they are involved in the misunderstanding that they can, they may try to do so.
  • In vv. 37-38 it has been said that this accountability will be held on the Day of Resurrection.
  • In vv. 39-45 the evil end of the guilty ones, from among men and jinn, who have been disobeying Allah in the world has been mentioned.
  • And from verse 46 to the end of the Surah mention has been made of those rewards and blessings which will be granted to the righteous men and jinn who have led pious lives in the world and lived with a clear understanding that they will have to appear before their Lord one day and render an account of their deeds and actions. (Surah Rahman).
  • This whole discourse is couched in oratorical language. It is a spirited and eloquent address in the course of which after mentioning each of the wonders of Allah’s great power, and each of the blessings bestowed by Him, and each of the manifestations of His Sovereignty and dominion, and each of the details of His punishment and rewards, the jinn and men have been over and over again questioned: “Which then of the bounties and favors of your Lord will you deny ?” Below we shall explain that Alaa is a word with many shades of meaning, which has been used in different senses at different places in this discourse, and this question to the jinn and men bears its own special meaning at every place according to the context.

Surah Rahman is one of the most important surahs in the Quran to Muslims. It’s called the Bride of the Qur’an. Surah Rahman helps in the treatment of many illnesses.

What is surah ar Rahman about?

Surah Al-Rahman is one of the important chapters of the Quran, as it is one of the names of Allah.

It begins with the same word Rahman to indicate the importance of this name. Allah mentions to us in this surah the virtues of his great name and enumerates the types of goodness, blessing, and fruits, and Allah also describes the heavens.

Surah ar Rahman has an important role in treating many diseases, most of which is the treatment of the heart. Heart patients are treated with the Quran by hearing or reciting surat ar Rahman.

Allah has mentioned the attribute of mercy and grace.

Everything has a bride, and the bride of the Quran is surah e Rahman(Most Gracious). Among the weak hadiths mentioned in the merits of the surah e Rahman is that it is the bride of the Quran in the text of the well-known hadith “Everything has a bride, and the bride of the Quran is Surah e, Rahman.”

weak hadith.

When Muslims recite Surah Ar-Rahman, they know the blessings of Allah upon them.

Allah Almighty has mentioned in detail his many great blessings and mercy in surat ar Rahman. And he attracted Muslims by the beauty of his words and his impact on Muslims by mentioning his blessings that were created in the earth and heaven, and also mentioned the blessing in heaven.

There is a special treatment in heaven, Allah willing, for Muslims who are obedient to Allah Almighty.

When you recite sora e Rehman will easily notice that one verse that keeps repeated after all every ayah for 31 times: “So which of your Allah marvels will you deny”. Which leaves the reciter always thinking about the blessings of Allah (SWT).

Why was surah Rahman revealed?

  • This Surah became found out at some stage in the early period of the Prophet’s house at Makkah.
  • This is the best Surah of the Quran in which, for men, the jinn are without delay addressed. In this Surah, each man and jinn are taught to recognize the wonders of Allah’s power, His limitless blessings, their very own helplessness, and duty earlier than Him. They are warned of the evil effects of being disobedient to Him and made privy to the pleasant effects of His obedience.
  • This Surah surely factors out that the message of the Prophet (PBUH) and the Quran is supposed each for men and jinn. His Prophethood isn’t always limited to humans alone. The starting of the Surah addresses humans. But from verse thirteen onward each guy and jinn are addressed, and one and the equal invitation is prolonged to each.
  • Allah describes his maximum vital attribute of divinity, and whoever recites sora e Rehman acknowledges the mercy and blessings of Allah.

  11. Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates);
  46. But for such as fear the time when they will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will be two Gardens-
  47. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?-
  48. Containing all kinds (of trees and delights);-
  49. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?-
  50. In them (each) will be two Springs flowing (free);
  56. In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;
  70. In them will be fair (Companions), good, beautiful;
  71. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  72. Companions restrained (as to their glances), in (goodly) pavilions;
  73. Then which of the favors of your Allah will ye deny?
  74. Whom no man or Jinn before them has touched;
