Assalaam alaikum,

If there is a masjid near please contact the imam. In many cases this takes time, a couple of phone calls. You can even search TTI they have excellent videos to gain a sense of the faith.

I recommend that the person read autobiographies of conversions. Once again, the members of TTI are a good source of information. SisterShyhijabi reverted from Judaism. She would be able to give insights. And I am sure there are many other brothers and sisters from Christianity who have first hand experience of the reversion.

PS. Good to see you posting.

Saying the shahadah in front of witnesses along with a sound intention to accept Islam as your sole way of life is enough. The best thing to do is go to a masjid, speak to an imam and then take the shahadah in front of everyone.

One only needs to say the Shahada (proclamation of faith) to become a Muslim.

To take your Shahada (i.e. make the confession of faith), just make your best attempt at pronouncing, in arabic, the statement, "Ashadu an (I bear witness that) La ilaha il Allah, Muhammad-ur-Rasool-Allah". You do not have to have witnesses to this event, and you should not make a big ceremony out of it, because it is a very personal committment. It is, however, recommended, if you can, to make your shahada with muslim witnesses

To read more on it and what to do afterwards, inshallah (God willing) visit here http://muttaqun.com/shahada.html

Assalaam alaikum,

If an opportunity allows you to speak to an imam it is better. Reversion or conversion is a serious matter. The ability to discuss in person questions that you have and have them answered is always the best. Often, the websites are singular. Conversation lends to more venues and the use of non verbal cues adds to knowledge.

If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion of God, then, all one needs to do is pronounce the “Shahada”, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The “Shahada” is the first and most important of the five pillars of Islam.

I reverted 8 months ago so I think I can answer your questions.

All that has to be done is to say your shahada in front of two muslim witnesses. It is best to do this at the mosque, but it does not have to be done there. That is literally all you have to do to become a muslim. You don't need to do anything else to convert - that is it.

All of the other things are additional. You are a muslim after you have said your shahada, even if you do nothing further, you are still a muslim.

However, it is recommended to perform ghusl after you say your shahada. It is not necessary before. I don't know if it is mandatory afterwards, but I was told to do it by the Imam.

As far as I know, it is not necessary to shave your head, but I think you can do that if you want as a religious act of devotion. I didn't do so - and I wasn't told to either.

You do not have to be circumcised, though you can be if you want. I chose to do it almost 5 months after converting.

But you should always check with with someone who knows for certain. Speak with your local Imam and he will be able to give you all of these answers for definite.

I am really pleased to hear you are thinking about becoming a muslim. Keep at it bro! :)
