:salam2: I hope you are all doing well and Inshallah someone can answer my questions :D

1. First one is my brother asked me, is why dont muslims allow some kind of archeological team to dig around in makkah for historcial evidences, like really carefully whilst not destroying anything?

2. why did muslims change the direction they were praying from jerusalem to makkah?

3 Why arent non muslims allowed into makkah and the masjid in jerusalem, my brother was like .. they must have something to hide...?

4. Also how is praying towards the kabbah different from praying towards one of those freaky statues lol...

I do not mean to offend islam whilst asking these questions .. it just came to my mind when my brother normally pops questions into my head
(he loves history channel)

1. First one is my brother asked me, is why dont muslims allow some kind of archeological team to dig around in makkah for historcial evidences, like really carefully whilst not destroying anything?

2. why did muslims change the direction they were praying from jerusalem to makkah?

I'll answer questions 1 & 2 in the bit of time that I have..and inshallah the more knowledgable brothers and sisters will take care of rest...

1. Has your brother ever looked at how al-masjid al-haram looks like now?..it would be the most difficult thing to make such an attempt..and even if they managed to to do something..it will interrupt the prayers..and the Umrahs of fellow Muslims..one small example..pretend that you're in the masjid al-haram to perform your prayer..and your hear hammers and people going back and forth yelling at each other..working around..and the like..I highly doubt that you'll have even a speck of concentration...I think this question answers itself pretty much..besides...they have constantly renovated the area..and there was never anything major around it..except maybe a few houses turned into libraries and things like that..but even *these* are not in the area near the Ka'aba for example..and Makkah is a huge city..it's constantly being expanding..so there aren't very many "historical" areas to be discovered..and when they are found..by all means..the Saudi government publishes it in media..as I'm pretty sure they would be proud of such incidents..

2. This question answers itself too...the Saudis have implemented this law..so Al-Masjid Al-Haram does not turn into a tourist hot-bed..say..like..the Eiffel Tower..it's a place of spiritual nature and serenity and is very sacred..having tourists in shorts..and cameras..and guides walking around..maybe with their shoes..sacks of food..laughs..loud voices..etc...is the last thing a Muslim wanting to perform his/her Dhuhur prayer for example will want to deal with...so to ensure that no harm is done to the spiritual nature of the place..the Saudi government just implemented the law of having no non-muslims enter *Makkah* altogether...There is nothing to hide in Makkah..or the Ka'aba...Millions of Muslims come and go to it..and many live in the city..and they actually even witness it's expansions and renovations..nobody had seen anything out of the ordinary...

As for the other questions..I will make research on them and get back to you..and inshallah in the meanwhile someone beats me to it and posts all that you need..but I remember there was a thread in the Discussions section about how is praying towards Makkah not the same as praying towards a statue..you should look for it

I tried to answer the best I can as I am in a bit of hurry..but inshallah I'll comeback to see all the updates..I hope I was of help to you

as for why nonmuslims arent allowed inside haram in makkah and madina ..ive read its because these are the only places that Allah has given for the muslims exclusively and not for the disbelievers..and towards the akhira the haram areas will shake (thrice) and throw out all the disbelievers..
hese are entirely on my limited knowlegde and in my own words..please do forgive me and correct me for my mistakes.
with prayers..:wasalam:

1. First one is my brother asked me, is why dont muslims allow some kind of archeological team to dig around in makkah for historcial evidences, like really carefully whilst not destroying anything?

Makkah as well as Madinah are holy lands to Allah and his Prophet. besides, the main archaeological places are inside Makkah and Madinah.

2. why did muslims change the direction they were praying from jerusalem to makkah?

Changing directions was an order from Allah to Muslims, It was meant to point out the true believers who would obay Allah and his Prophet.

The fools among the people (pagans, hypocrites, and Jews) will say, "What has turned them (Muslims) from their Qiblah [prayer direction (towards Jerusalem)] to which they were used to face in prayer." Say, (O Muhammad SAW) "To Allâh belong both, east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a Straight Way." (2:142)

And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from those who would turn on their heels (i.e. disobey the Messenger). Indeed it was great (heavy) except for those whom Allâh guided. And Allâh would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, Allâh is full of kindness, the Most Merciful towards mankind. (143)

3 Why arent non muslims allowed into makkah and the masjid in jerusalem, my brother was like .. they must have something to hide...?

O you who believe (in Allâh's Oneness and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW)! Verily, the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, and in the Message of Muhammad SAW) are Najasun (impure)[]. So let them not come near Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (at Makkah) after this year, and if you fear poverty, Allâh will enrich you if He wills, out of His Bounty. Surely, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (9:28) Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allâh, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islâm) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah[] with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (9:29)

4. Also how is praying towards the kabbah different from praying towards one of those freaky statues lol...

We pray towards Kaaba becuase Allah wants us to do so.
Non-Muslims dont just pray toward statues, they pray to them as if these statues were Gods. Thats why its different.

Hope that clears it out.. :)
