Assalaam walaikum,

Sometimes we need a little levity. I came across this article.:

U.S. millionaires say $7 million not enough to be rich

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A million dollars ain't what it used to be.

More than four out of ten American millionaires say they do not feel rich. Indeed many would need to have at least $7.5 million in order to feel they were truly rich, according to a Fidelity Investments survey.

Some 42 percent of the more than 1,000 millionaires surveyed by Fidelity said they did not feel wealthy. Respondents had at least $1 million in investable assets, excluding any real estate or retirement accounts.

"Every person in the survey is wealthy," said Sanjiv Mirchandani, president of National Financial, a unit of Fidelity. "But they are still worried about outliving their assets."

The average age of respondents was 56 years old with a mean of $3.5 million of investable assets. The threshold for "rich" rose with age.

"They compare themselves to their peer group ... and they are also thinking about the long period they will have in retirement and want more assets" to fund their lifestyle, said Michael Durbin, president of Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services.

Still, millionaires are slightly more optimistic now than they were in 2009, when 46 percent did not feel wealthy.

Respondents were also more optimistic about the U.S. economy. While they thought the current U.S. economy remained very weak, they think it will improve by the end of this year.

Fidelity noted the wealthiest 5 percent of Americans hold more than 55 percent of the nation's wealth.

I found it funny.

Assalaamu alaikum,

my psychology teacher was telling us about this earlier this morning and he was crack up !! :p subhana'Allaah, people will always want something more!!

In class we also read how the British parliment is coming up with ways to "make sure the society is happy" because he thinks the Brits are not much of emotianally satisfied! and I thought....hmm, maybe because everything worldly is not enough, YOU NEED ISLAM! :p
great read!!

Assalaam walaikum,

Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz...All my friends drive Porche and I must make amends.

Such opulence becomes a joke. This small population is so arrogant they have forgotten.

As a liberal arts major...you know we make everything beautiful...why 7 million..why not a nice round figure like 10 million? Even the IRS rounds off.

Assalam Alaikum:

There is a hunger which when pacified by the material that hunger needs, the pacification isn't achieved but hunger aggravated, pacify this elevated hunger by more material, and now a endless chain begins.

When someone feels a lot of hunger the only pacifying factor is spirituality. Born empty handed, surely departure is also empty handed than what for is this unidirectional race that never ceases.

I remember a Prophetic Hadith bit diminished in my mind but probably it reads '' The property of an individual is what it has eaten, what it has wore and charity which has been given".

The word ideal itself interprets that what is unachievable. Ideal=Imaginary=Unrealistic.

:salam2:I guees the more we have ,the more we want until we loose what we had,and realise how precious it was.Every baby knows that as he learns to walk hastily, once he does actually walks, grows older and is aware of the responsibility he has got to carry on his shoulders ,he wishes he had remained a baby!and engages in an interactive monologue, instead of grabbing his baby dummy. His mind is hostage in a north pole summit from where he sees the world moving counterclockwise, this turns into all to semantics, add a little ingratitude to the altitude..Jackpot you got me?:D

PS.have mercy with this confused replier and brother of yours...May Allah swt protect you all.
