Asalaamu'Alykum,

Wasnt sure where else to put this.

In the conquest of Makkah, Abu Sufyan along with Hakim bin Hizam and Budail bin Warqa, two terrible polytheists, went out to survey. Before they got near the camp, they met Abbas (R.A), the Prophets uncle. He informed Abu Sufyan of the situation and advised him to accept Islam and persuade his people to surrender before Muhammad (S.A.W) otherwise, his head would be struck off.

Under the prevailing compelling circumstances. Abu Sufyan went in the company of Abbas (R.A) seeking the chance of meeting the Prophet (S.A.W). The Muslims were furious to see Abu Sufyan and wanted to kill him on the spot. But the two men managed, not without difficulties, to see Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) who advised that they see him the following day. The Prophet (S.A.W) addressed Aby Sufyan saying: "Woe to you! Isn't it time for you to bear witness to the Oneness of Allah and Prophethood of Muhammad?" Here, he began to request the Prophet (S.A.W) in the most sincere words that testify to the Prophet's generosity and mild temper begging for pardon and forgiveness, and progessing wholeheartedly the new Faith.

Alhamdulilah it just shows you, even with a bad past one can change. "Abu Sufyan thereafter became a good Muslim. The Prophet (S.A.W) loved him and even testified that he would be in Paradise." (Zadul-Ma'ad 2/162. 163)

Alhamdulilah. We can use Abu Sufyan as an prime example, as he and his family did some bad things.

Alhamdulilah

Asalaamu'Alykum,

Some of may already know the atrocities or the bad stuff they tried to do:

For example their efforts to degrade the Prophet (S.A.W) as a man possessed by a Jinn or an insane person:

"And they say, O you (Muhammad (S.A.W) to whom the Dhikr (the Qu'ran) has been sent down: "Verily, you are a mad man." [15:6]

Or a liar practicing witchcraft:

And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar." [38;4]

Abu Lahab's wife, Umm Jamil bint Harb, the sister of Abu Sufyan also proved her hatred towards the Prophet (S.A.W) in order to cause him bodily harm, she used to tie bundles of thorns with ropes of twisted palm leaf fiber and scatter them in the paths of which the Prophet (S.A.W) was expected to take. She was an ill mannered and bad tempered woman with abusive language.

Abu Jahl would come to listen to Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) recite the Qu'ran, then he would leave without believing in it, nor taking heed of its warnings. He would harm Allah's Messenger (S.A.W), he would take every opportunity to obstruct the Message of Allah and then he would go around arrogantly boasing about what he did. Allah (S.W.T) revealed about him:

So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur'ân, and in the Message of Muhammad SAW) nor prayed! [75;31]

He was determined to go to extremes and swore he would dust the Messengers face and step on his neck. No sooner had he proceeded to fulfill his wicked intention than he was seen turning back shielding himself with his hands (as if something horrible was in his pursuit).

His companions asked him what the matter was. He said: "I perceived a ditch of burning of fire and some wings flying." Later on, the Messenger (S.A.W) commented saying:

"If he had proceeded further, the angels would have plucked off his limbs one after another." (<------- Allahu Akbar)

Abdullah bin Mas'ud (R.A) found him (Abu Jahl, after he had been struck by two inexperienced youths) on the verge of death breathing his last. He stepped on his neck addressing him: "Have you seen how Allah (S.W.T) has disgraced you?" The enemy of Islam still rebelliously answered: "I am not disgraced, I am no more than a man killed by his own people on the battlefield". And then inquired: "Who has won the battle?". Ibn Mas'ud replied: "Allah and his Messenger". Abu Jahl then said with a heart full of bitterness: "You have followed difficult ways, you shepherd!". Ibn Mas'ud (R.A) used to be a shepherd working for the Makkan Nobles.

Im sure you know what happend next.

The Prophet (S.A.W) went to have a look at the corpse of Abu Jahl. There he said

" This is the Pharaoh of this nation."

Alhamdulilah. How one person can so much hatred as Abu Jahl. It is unimaginable the punishment that Abu Jahl will receive within the grave. Allahu Akbar.

It shows as well, the troubles we maybe going through are small and minor, and we should always look back at what the Prophet (S.A.W) went through, Even in the Battle of Uhud he was stuck and many companions were lost because they were trying to protect him. Or the early times when they made attempts on his life.

Lets not fall into Iblees's trap, as in the Battle of Badr:

In the guise of Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju'sham Al-Mudliji, on seeing angels working in favour of the Muslims, and the Quraish rapidly losing ground on the battlefield, made a quick retreat despite the polytheists' pleas to stay on. He ran off and jumped into the sea.

What a coward. Remember Iblees say's himself he fears the Lord of the Worlds and the disbelievers he his misguiding, he will abandon them on the Day of Resurrection. So baiscally, because im going down, i will try and take as many down with me.

Allahu Akbar.

Alhamdulilah

P.S: Any mistakes i will rectify them.

Asalaamu'Alykum,

You are right. Allah (S.W.T) knows best at all times.

Alhamdulilah. When i read that Abu Talib died as a non-muslim, it hurt because he protected the Prophet (S.A.W), through the difficult times. Alhamdulilah. Although two things we do know that the year was known as "The Year of Grief". And when the Prophet (S.A.W) said:

"By Allah, I will persistently beg pardon for you till I am forbidden to do so (by Allah)".

And the verse was revealed:

It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allâh's Forgiveness for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief). [9:113]

Also:

Verily! You (O Muhammad SAW) guide not whom you like, but Allâh guides whom He wills. And He knows best those who are the guided. [28:56]

Alhamdulilah.

Allah (S.W.T)

It really is umimaginable of the punishment that a disbeliever will receive. May Allah (S.W.T) help us to increase in our Iman and work more righteousness. Inshallah.

Alhamdulilah.

Asalaamu'Alykum

Bottom line is you never know who is or will be a good Muslim and who isn't or won't. Only God knows that. That's why we should never give up on anybody and why we should never call others names but instead meet their assaults with "wisdom and good preaching."

Who would have expected Umar ibn Al-Khattaab to become such a wonderful Muslim and who would have thought that Abu-Taalib would die a disbeliever?
