The prophet (saw) said: "Verily,Allah is Jameel (beautiful), and He loves Jamal (beauty). Regarding beauty ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyah (ra) says:
"(Allah) He loves his slaves to beautify their tongues with the truth, to beautify their hearts with sincere devotion (ikhlaas), love, repentance and trust him, to beautify their faculties with obediance...
thus they recognise Allah through these qualities of beauty and seek to draw close to him through beautiful words, deeds and attitudes. They acknowledge him for beauty which is his attribute and they worship him through the beauty which he has prescribed and his (beautiful) religion."

Beauty also means physical beauty. That's why the prophet peace be upon him always combed his hair, trimmed his beard and moustache and applied musk oil to his face and chest. When he saw Abu-Quhaafa, Abu-bakr's (ra) father with messy white hair, he frowned and said, "What don't you comb your hair? You like like a devil!" Many Muslims unfortunately think that neglecting their appearance is piety. Quite the contrary. Taking care of one's appearance is part of faith because by doing so, one is expressing his or her gratitude to God for giving them such a wonderful gift and they show their gratitude by keeping it presentable and in good shape.
