I am sure; this word 'hadhrat' belongs to Urdu as this its my mother tongue, but not sure, if Persian is the original root. And, yeah, Muhammad Hadhrat (S.A.W) refers to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him).

And Allah'u Aalim.

Its origin is Arabic, Hadhra, which means "presence". It is transformed to Hazrat and used in Urdu, Turkish and Farsi to address people with reverence. The Arabs did not use it as such. Colloquial Arabic uses it sometimes but most refer to the prophets and the caliphs as "Sayyidna" meaning "our master."
Jazak Allah for enlightening me on this. I didn't know the word was from Hadahra and its meaning.

By the way, does this word Hadahra's meaning, to some extent, explain why most respected religious personalities there in subcontinent are given this title?
