the correct marriage in islam must be that way :
first of all, the girl's tutor (waliy in arabic),generally the father must agree giving his daughter to the man.
besides that,at least two men must witness the fact that the father aprooved the marriage!
the husband must give what we call "sadak" to the girl : it's an amount of money or something valuable!!it's not like paying her or something,far from that...it's something written in the quran and hadiths!
all of this must be written in a paper called "aakd nnikah", which makes the wedding formal and proven.
a non written marriage is zina!

u need witnesses and a wali to make it legal, thats it. (oh no forced partners aswell).
