Salaam,
I think Brother Heegan was trying advise you correctly. There are no scholars on this site to provide fatwas. He provided a helpful link where you could receive an answer to your question by someone who has proper credentials. Even if soemeone here said it was halaal or haraam there is still the chance they would be advising you incorrectly. I think you ought to thank your brother for providing a link and giving you the truth, your answer can't be found here in this case.
