Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh every1

Some one posted on facebook, that demonstrations are haraam and not part of the deen.
I got really confused about it, because I have never heard that it is haram, so I asked for adilah
and all I got was a couple of videos with different fatawa. I don't know about all this and I'm not convinced.
What do you guys think? Please remember to document ur statements:)

Maybe I just overlooked this but I don't think that it answers my question on whether it is haram or an innovation to demonstrate.
I was looking for a more specific answer. Is it always bad to demonstrate? I just can’t see anything wrong with it. Allahu a’lam

asalaam aleykum,
as ISLAMICALY;to the pasted one;
yet we should not forget:-

(2:256) There is no compulsion and coercion in regard to religion. *285 The right thing has been made distinct from the wrong thing: now whoever rejects taghut *286 and believes in Allah has taken a firm support that never gives way.
Sadaqa Llah.

Assalaam alaikum,

There are many threads on this subject. First, it is best to make dua. Believers need to be in the masjids. They need to be taking council. As demonstrations do not have leaders there is no dialogue. The mob mentality does not think. There is little collective thought. Please take the time to read What Allah Loves and What Allah Hates. Many scholars have written on this subject and they are in agreement it is against the grain of Islam. Dua is the weapon of Believers.
There are many articles on TTI that explain in detail what to do when the ruler is oppressive. The best is to make dua.

I'm assuming these demonstrations you speak of are ones against corruption, and not those nonsense ones like gay rights and pro-marijuana, etc.

Every prophet demonstrated. Prophet Abraham demonstrated against polytheism. Prophet Moses demonstrated against slavery of his people. Prophet Jesus demonstrated against the crooked rabbis. Even prophet Mohamad demonstrated against the corruption of Quraish.

A demonstration is not limited to painting your flag on your face and setting up a rally. A demonstration could be something like standing up to help a hijabi sister who is being harassed on the train. You can sit there and make all the Dua's you want, but you're not changing the fact that the perpetrator is pounding her face with his fist. True story in New York City, btw.

Every Muslim should stand up against corruption. Those who tell you otherwise ( like our moms) say it out of fear. Our mothers are dragging us to hell.

Okay I have read all ur comments masha Allah, but I'm still confused lol.
I can’t see anything wrong with demonstrations apart from men and women mixing:confused:
Anyway I will ask my local sheikh and see what he says about it in sha Allah

Assalaam alaikum,

It is not for a person to opine if a matter is correct or not. You say you do not see what is wrong.

As for some of the other responses..they are written without knowledge. Please take the time to educate yourself.

The prophets did not demonstrate. They were direct. They had councils. There is much that has been written on this subject.

Dua is the weapon of Believers.

As for the youth being afraid that I will drag him to hell...I have nothing to do with that..it is his own actions and intentions that will take him there. Please take the time to educate yourself.

Demonstrations can be direct and towards one agenda, my dear sister. Either way, there's nothing wrong about uniting and standing up against evil. Of course, every atom in our bodies depends on Allah SWT, but Allah gave us minds capable of solving problems on our own. For instance, a student cannot keep her book closed and make dua for Allah to somehow plant the information in her brain so she can pass a test. She can, however, study and then make dua for Allah to help her retain the information.

As for Going to to Imams for help....I lost hope with those guys. All they so is make khutbas to put you through a guilt trip and have you donate money. Why open up a falafel shop when you can build a little mosque and make easy money? Ya Lateef!

Assalaam alaikum,

The mistake you are making is forming your opinion. That is wrong. Please educate yourself from the literature of Islam and its fundamental laws. There is no evidence for demonstrations. Nothing. Please take a moment and discover the rulings from the history of Islam.

Believers must adhere to the laws of Islam. This is no joking matter. Please do a search on TTI. There are many books and articles that explain in simple terms why we can not demonstrate.

And we must understand the power of the words that Allah subhana wa taala will not change the condition of a people until they change the contents of their hearts. It is mind-boggling that a Muslim would reduce the power of dua to inertia when the Prophet of Allah, swas, told us to make dua. It is our reliance on our Creator that makes change. To extend the thought should we not make dua and believe we are almost in shirk territory.

I did a 180 degree turn when the Truth was given to me. I come from the generation of protestors. I walked that walk. The Truth was shown to me and I walked away. I turned to what the Prophet of Allah, swas, told us to do. Make dua using the Beautiful Names and Attributes of Allah.
