sorry folks, this hasnt got anything to do with Islam but can anyone help me as follows:
I took my laptop to a computer specialist and he messed around with my internet settings, now I cant access yahoo or hotmail but can access some other web pages. does anyone know how i cant reset my settings or something similar so that i can access them again? (ive got a usb broadband)

Which internet browser you using, sister? If it's Internet Explorer, try this. Otherwise please let us know which one is it.

jazakAllah for youre reply, yeah its internet explorer, my net was fine until i got my laptop checked out, i think he accidently disabled access to hotmail and google as i can access other web pages.

if tried fidling with the internet settings but with no luck

this seems odd.
go to internet options > privacy > sites and check whether yahoo.com or hotmail.com have been blocked? if yes then remove these sites form the blocked list.

please post the error msg that you receive when you visit yahoo.com or hotmail.com

i tried that and it comes up 'page can not be displayed' :angryred:

Try unplugging your router for 10 seconds, and then plugging it back again. If all fails maybe you can delete all cookies, history, etc. if that's possible? Though 'my' guess would be the Firewall blocking those specific sites, so check that again.

take ur laptop back to the same computer technician and tell him to correct the problem with no extra charges.

thanks, i did try the above but i had a message saying 'this does not apply to you're version' i guess il have to take it back and get it checked.

see if u can change ur IP...go to ur network settings...or click on "obtain an ip automatically"...i have quite a no. of users who got yahoo and google blocked their ip..

in another case..just install mozilla or safari...they are browsers which u can use to browse the internet..
