Can Muslims have a Cat or Cats for a pet or pets is this allowed also is it true that the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him had a Cat named Muezza also can the Pet Cat that Muslims have be of any color like a White Cat a Black Cat or a Brown Cat thank you Im asking this question because I know Muslims are not allowed to have Dogs as pets and or keep Dogs in the home also Cats are my favorite kind of Animal I love Cats they are beautiful ?

As far as I know it is permissible to have cats. The Prophet Muhammad(salalahu alayhi wa sallaam) loved cats. There is also a Hadith that states that a woman was punished for mistreating a cat. I have three myself, I have always loved cats and had cats since I was little.

Prophet :saw: loved cats and many hadees point this out to us. But I have never heard Prophet :saw: named his cats or that Prophet :saw: had a cat by such a name.

If that link is from WIKIPEDIA is only source giving a name to the cat of Prophet :saw: then its best to not take it as a fact, unless someone gives a saheeh hadees. Often Wiki too gets crappy information. We could go and correct it.

Does some one know better and throw some light in this matter?
