Career advice

Asslamu alaykum brothers and sisters.

I would appreciate if you reply back to this thread.

I am nearly 19 and in college which I will get a level 3 qualificationS from inshallah soon. I just been wondering about what i am going to do after I get my qualifications, though I made some plans Allah willing. My first choices are going to Islamic university to increase my islamic knowledge and (possibly madinah) if they accept me. Also I was thinking of studying computer science in of the english unis. I have been thinking and to get some advice from someone who knows about the religion but it has not been possible for me to meet one of my local imams so i thought of Asking this question the TTI members.

So what do you think about my plans: DO I STUDY IN ONE OF THE WESTERN UNIS OR GO TO AN ISLAMIC UNI THEN COME BACK FOR MY WORLDY knowledge? MAY ALLAH REWARD YOU FOR YOUR HONEST REPLIES

Waalaikumsalam,

I would advise you to study Islam i.e study at an Islamic university. Attaining knowledge on Islam is so much better (since you are able to, inshaAllah). Well, thats my thoughts.

If I had the choice between computer science and Madinah..i would choose the latter. Seriously, computer science in the UK is veery widespread and you could easily get on such a course afterwards. If you get a place at the Islamic University of Madinah...such an obvious choice!!

(dont take my advice tooo seriously btw - wait for some more)

To be honest, I prefer non of your choices! Could you think of the third choice? How about studying nuclear sciences?! We may need it in the future!

Have you heard of istikhara prayer? It's a prayer u do when you struggling to make a choice in your life so you ask Allah to help you make the right choice by praying and reciting a dua. How to do istikhara is in this website in the prayer section. Ask Allah to guide you as He knows best. You may think that He might want you to do the Islamic course first but you never know. Allah works in mysterious ways subanallah! So do istikhara insha'allah.

i always wanted to go to an Islamic University in Madina city, but unfortunately as being a grl its a lot more difficult.
You should defiantly go for Islamic studies
because our society needs more scholars than any other professions.

I think you must get best qualification in western univeristy first then in your gap year or holidays you can attend islamic uni or similir colleges

Well see .....There are already a lot of muslim scholars out there in the world but not alot in the engineering field or whatever computer science falls into . So we need more muslims in this field or the science field . Learning computer science from a book is not easy(must go to college to learn it) but you can easily learn about islam by reading . If you want to learn islam . There are hundreds of books out there you can read and learn about it .

But its your call. Pray and allah will inshallah help you

I totally agree with this..... i know in the west we have a major problem with not having enough inform and ppl following the correct manhaj to take from. I too am a sister, so I can't be imaan but I would surely love if all the men would go to east and bring it back.
