My children and husband are in Tunis for the next month and today I open MSNBC to see the following story about Suicide Car Bombs in Algeria.......Algeria is NO WHERE from Tunis and this really frightens me!!!!! I don't understand why they do these things and moreover I fear for my kids!!!!! I wish Tunis would shut down all borders to Algeria and Libya!!!!!!!! I hope they keep their battles in Algeria!!!! Can someone PLEASE explain this logic to me!

Dont worry sis. If it is meant for you to die, you will die no matter how much you prevent it. People can even die at their homes

Wa alaykum Salam,

Dont worry about it sister, Tunisia is quite a safe place to be for foreigners and most Tunisians. Alhamdulillah.

There is always crime and bad things happening, but, I think that Tunisia, Algeria or any other Muslim country is a lot safer than the US or UK.

Columbine and Virginia Tech is quickly forgotten. The Media wants make sure those nasty "Moslems, Arabianisms and Asiatics" are much more frightening.

At least the kids in Muslim countries dont go on shooting sprees and I have never seen metal detectors at school gates seaching school kids for knives and guns as they do in the US and even some schools here in the UK.

In US and UK and other Western countries there may not be "suicide bombings" but there is still a lot of other crimes. Especially related to drugs and alcohol.

Also, the Media tends to hype up the danger of terrorism. People are more likely to die from traffic accidents or even in their own home from their poor diet than meet a fanatical suicide bomber.

If you sit and think about things in a logical way, it will make sense.

InshaAllah, things will be fine :) Its a lot safer than New York or Los Angeles.

As for closing borders, I think that Iraqis and Afghans would like some certain countries (i.e. the US and UK) to have done that too!!!!

So I shouldn't be worried.......they are my babies over there........BUT, I can take comfort I guess in the fact that they are among the general population and not near an embassy or tourist attraction.......I do think though that closing borders during this time would be a good idea to protect Tunisia from any "fall out".........I have been to Tabarka near Algeria and there is no "border" protection really between the two. Makes it very easy to move from place to place....Well forgive me for worrying...it is just too close to my children for my peace of mind.

I just read this on CNN.....

"CNN International Security Correspondent Paula Newton said the merger combined the expertise of Algerian guerrillas with the operational ability of al Qaeda in North Africa, enabling the group to penetrate the usually extensive security in high-profile areas of Algiers.

She said the group's goal is to destabilize countries like Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, which it sees as enemies of the Islamic state."

Is this true....do people consider these countries as enemies of the Islamic State? And if so, by what do they mean "Islamic State"? This is all so frightening....

dont worry sister.

if u search and read about the history of bombings in algeria you woundnt be worried about ur husband and kids. algeria bombings had started when the islamic party won in the elections in early 90s. but this party had been banned to participate in forming the government. since then the bombing always targetted the algerian officials and the national buildings. we here in morocco never been worried the spreading of that influence because it s an algerian matter if i can say political matter. either in tunisia. so dont worry about ur kids and they will be back to US in safty insha allah.

Its okay to worry, but dont let it drive you crazy. Your children will be fine because Allah is watching over them. They will be in my duaas and you also, take it easy Sister.:tti_sister::tti_sister:

you have like no sympathy for the sister.....

Assalamu alaykum

I think he is trying to reassure her sister, and what he says is absolutely true. When the Prophet :saw: returned from Uhud with a ruined army, the hypocrites in Medinah began saying things like 'had these people stayed with us instead of gone out fighting for jihaad and such like they would be alive now', and what not... And Allah Himself then contradicted them saying that it was not true and death would come for whoever and whenever it was willed. At a time of a persons death they will come out to the place they will die, and nothing can change that.

So there's no running from death and it can strike anywhere. We could fall out of our beds and die, or not even have to fall! The main thing is trust in Allah, He knows what will happen and to whom and when, we should just do our best before that.

p.s. correct me if I am wrong please
