Hana:I felt really determined to get through the prayer. I also felt like a bit 'dumb' because I had a book in my hand and had to keep referring to it every minute - so I would have my face on the ground and would have to keep looking up!
First time I finished the prayer I felt a bit scared - i turned my head over my shoulder becasue i felt like there was something evil in my room - cant be sure though.
I have some peace coupled with a bit of 'I've got a long way to go'.
I was a very prayerful Christian and I feel that God loved my just as much before - to summize: I think the predominant feeling is clarity and being right.

thats fantastic Jennah, you actually get DOUBLE the reward that a born Muslim gets becasue it is harder. in addittion, EVERY LETTER that you read from the Quran, you gain up to 10 REWARDS.
dont worry about having to look up at the book etc, just take baby steps and before you know it you will be doing it automatically and soon you will be reading the Quran. my friend is a convert and it took her no time at all to learn the prayers and now she can read the Quran, she get so excited mashaAllah. it is as if she was always a Muslim, subhanAllah.
Frank is correct, it will be easier for your children because now you and your husband are both Muslim, it must have been one of the best days of his life when you broke the news to him.
what an interesting thread, i love reading these stories, its good that people are still wanting to know about Islam, i wish i could say the same for the rest of my family, they would rather stick with the bible

you never know, it may seem to you as being highly unlikely, but nothing is impossible for God, He guides whom He wills. He said: 'call on Me and I will answer your prayer'.
perhaps through you, they can see the true representation of Islam and be guided. they have the right to know as well, may Allah guide them
there was a Christian man living in syria, and the doctor knew he was breathing his last so encouraged him to say shahadah, thinking that the man was a Muslim. this christian man said his shahadah before he died. to the doctors suprise the mans family were all christian as she discovered when they arrived after his death. however, the man died as a Muslim-subhanAllah. this is a factual event as I know the doctor. truely God guides whom He wills.
(I wouldnt recommend, however, that yo delay your shahadah as you may die before doing so..)

sorry i meant that it may seem to you that is is highly unlikely for your parents to become Muslim but nothing is Impossible for God.

I'm a bit late here I know, but none the less my dear sister in Islaam I'm very proud of you taking that final step to becoming a Muslim. I was born Muslim alhamdulillah and I thank Allaah for it every day just because I know how difficult and scary that choice is sometimes and how hard it is to make it. But just like sister hana said you do get reward for every effort you make, and all of your past sins are cleared subhanAllaah.
I pray Allaah makes things easy for you!! But even so, as we all know trials and difficulties are a part of life in the dunya. So I hope you know that now you've got an Ummah behind you and you'll never be alone. You might feel alone sometimes, but all over the world we are united by our faith, belief and often times the struggles we come in the way of Allaah, and thus you will never be entirely alone. And here on TTI we will try to do our best to help you how we can inshaAllaah. =)
