Ibraheem an-Nakha'ee (may Allah have mercy on him) said:



إِذَا سَمِعْت حَدِيثاً

When you hear a hadeeth



فَحَدِّثْ بِهِ حَيَنَ تَسْمَعُهُ

then narrate it upon hearing it,



وَلَوْ أَنْ تحَدِّثُ بِهِ مَنْ لا يَشْتَهِيهُ

Even if you narrate it to someone who does not want to hear it.




فَإِنَّهُ يَكُونُ كَاالْكِتَابِ فِي صَدْرِكَ

For then it will become like a written book in your chest.
(جَامِعُ ْبَيَانِ الْعِلْم وَ فَضْله #٦٣٠)


‘Alee ibn Khashram said:

I have never seen Wakee’ with a book in his hands, rather, he has everything memorized. So I asked him about the remedy for memorizing, and he said:

“If I told you the remedy, will you use it?”

I said: “By Allaah indeed.”

He said: “Leaving sins, for I have not experienced anything like it for memorizing.”
