Did God really punish Adam for original sin?

Did God really cast Adam out of Paradise?

Aoa brothers and sisters,

i find many of our muslims brothers have the misconception that Adam (A.S) disobeyed Allah and as a result Allah banished him from Jannah and onto Earth and if he hadn't sinned we would be in heaven.

There is a hadeeth to this effect that :

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'O Adam! You are our father who disappointed us and turned us out of Paradise.' Then Adam said to him, 'O Moses! Allah favored you with His talk (talked to you directly) and He wrote (the Torah) for you with His Own Hand. Do you blame me for action which Allah had written in my fate forty years before my creation?' So Adam confuted Moses, Adam confuted Moses," the Prophet added, repeating the Statement three times.
Bukhari Volume 8, Book 77, Number 611

if this hadith is not understood side by side with the Quran, it can be misleading to a lot of muslim.

This is what Allah says in the Quran before creating man:

Surah Baqarah verse 30:

And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know."

a key point is to note the bold words on earth. which means that even before the creation of Adam, Allah had intended to put Adam on Earth not dwell in Paradise.

and the amazing thing is that Adam knew he was destined for Earth, not stay in paradise forever.

so why was he sent to Paradise? the answer is that to train him, to get him ready for life on Earth, so that he could learn to eat, drink, develop companionship with Hawwa (Eve) etc.

and why did he weep when punished? Adam didnot weep because he was sent to Earth, cast out of Paradise. He wept out of his love for Allah. He loved Allah, his Creator and knew that he had disobeyed Him. Adam always knew that he would have to spend a short time on Earth called 'life' and so will his children. He wept and repented, even though Allah had already forgiven him, because he loved Allah so much.

another great piece of information in this Ayah is this:
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know."

Allah made this dialogue between Him and the angels to show us that He had already decreed or decided that mankind would be placed on Earth. the words in bold show that the angels knew that mankind would make mischief and wars and shed blood of one another.

and history has shown us that there has never been a time when a war wasn't waging on in some part of the globe at a given moment.

some scholars say that angels said this because the Jinns who used to live on Earth before used to be murderous also. Although how true this is, I don't know but the Ayah shows that the angels knew that man would shed blood.

But Allah knew what the angels didnot. Not only did Adam show his superiority when he told the angels the Names (knowledge of things, names of creations, Names of Allah), but this phrase "I know that which you do not know" still holds true for the present.

Everytime a man praises Allah, prays to Allah, helps one another, removes a stone from the path to the mosque, the angels see that Allah has created man for a great purpose. They were expecting mischief and bloodshed but man also glorifies Allah when he obeys Him, loves Him, loves his fellow man for His sake, tries to find proof of His existence in the Signs given to man and so on.
