Did God really cast Adam out of Paradise?
Aoa brothers and sisters,
i find many of our muslims brothers have the misconception that Adam (A.S) disobeyed Allah and as a result Allah banished him from Jannah and onto Earth and if he hadn't sinned we would be in heaven.
There is a hadeeth to this effect that :
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Adam and Moses argued with each other. Moses said to Adam. 'O Adam! You are our father who disappointed us and turned us out of Paradise.' Then Adam said to him, 'O Moses! Allah favored you with His talk (talked to you directly) and He wrote (the Torah) for you with His Own Hand. Do you blame me for action which Allah had written in my fate forty years before my creation?' So Adam confuted Moses, Adam confuted Moses," the Prophet added, repeating the Statement three times. Bukhari Volume 8, Book 77, Number 611
if this hadith is not understood side by side with the Quran, it can be misleading to a lot of muslim.
This is what Allah says in the Quran before creating man:
Surah Baqarah verse 30:
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth." They said: "Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, - while we glorify You with praises and thanks (Exalted be You above all that they associate with You as partners) and sanctify You." He (Allah) said: "I know that which you do not know."
a key point is to note the bold words on earth. which means that even before the creation of Adam, Allah had intended to put Adam on Earth not dwell in Paradise.
and the amazing thing is that Adam knew he was destined for Earth, not stay in paradise forever.
so why was he sent to Paradise? the answer is that to train him, to get him ready for life on Earth, so that he could learn to eat, drink, develop companionship with Hawwa (Eve) etc.
and why did he weep when punished? Adam didnot weep because he was sent to Earth, cast out of Paradise. He wept out of his love for Allah. He loved Allah, his Creator and knew that he had disobeyed Him. Adam always knew that he would have to spend a short time on Earth called 'life' and so will his children. He wept and repented, even though Allah had already forgiven him, because he loved Allah so much.
