Dinosours...!

Asalamu alaikum

Recently i have been arguing with my parents about whether dinosours existed or not XD ...they just don't believe it. I understand that it conflicts with Islamic views because they are believed to be millions of years old and according to the Quran, the Earth is just 1000's of years old ( i think )

So what im asking is, what am i supposed to believe. Is all the science i have been learning untrue? Are the dinosour fossils found in museums not real? Is the Earth not millions of years old?

Please clear me up on this issue

thankyou

The Quran does not state the earth is just 1000s of years old, it really doesn't indicate how much time has passed since the earth's creation. And there is nothing to indicate that dinosaurs contradict the Quran. There are literally thousands of species that are now extinct and not mentioned in the Quran. For that matter, there are species alive right now not mentioned, take a patypus for instance.

So we don't have to prove every single spcies through the Quran, the Quran states Allah swt created all creatures and that's that.

Salaamu 'alaykkum, here is a fatwa from Shaykh Salih al Munajjid regarding this matter...

Imaam, can you please tell me if it is impermissible to believe that there were dinosaurs on the earth before Adaam and Eve were created?

Praise be to Allaah.

Allaah created Adam (peace be upon him) on a Friday, the sixth day from the beginning of creation. Some texts mention what was created on the previous five days, in brief and general terms, but as to the details of what was created, Allaah knows best about that. Questions like this, on which no belief or deeds are to be based, are just meaningless distractions that are of no benefit. Faith does not increase or decrease according to whether one believes in dinosaurs or not. It was reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade us to occupy ourselves with things that cause confusion and are not clear. We also know that people differ in their views as to whether these dinosaurs existed or they are just figments of the imagination. And Allaah knows best.

Allah (swt) created the earth way before creating Adam (as).
First the Djinns (the tribe of Iblis) lived on earth and we don't know what animals lived on earth before mankind started to live on it with the Djinns.

It would be helpful for you if you listen to video:

1) Yes, dinosaurs existed. There are many bones, and even one that was mummified has been found.

2) The age of the Earth in billions of years old and the statement that the dinosaurs were wiped out 60 million years ago, is just assumptions made by evolutionists.

3) From Carbon dating some dinosaur bones, they were found to be around 5,000 years old and others at around 16,000 years old. Blood has also been found in many bones. This, along with findings of a mummified dinosaur have led many to question whether dinosaurs really lived millions of years ago. There also accounts made by various peoples around the world in their oral traditions or preserved images on buildings that depict dinosaurs living on the Earth. This is a topic one has to research.

4) It is most likely the Earth is around 20,000 years old (estimated from various studies) and the humans in the past lived with dinosaurs for a time, considering the entire nature of the Earth was gigantic. Most humans made their homes within mountains or large pyramid structures made of stones, or caves, etc. Therefore, they could have survived together. There is a hadith that mentions that Adam (peace be upon him) was gigantic in stature along with the rest of the nature of the Earth, but later generations were permitted to shrink in stature until the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). As the humans in later generations shrunk, so did the animals and plant life in later generations. It is already accepted in modern times among all persons, that insects, animals, and plant life in the past were gigantic. The part about giant humans is debated by biologists. There are many oral traditions from peoples from around the entire Earth, speaking about giant humans that once lived on the Earth. There are also some assumed graves. This is also another topic one must research in order to fully understand and accept.

5) Much of the fossil fuels used to power the modern world come from the remains of dinosaurs, and other animals, and plant life that once existed in the past. Therefore, it makes since that Allah (The Glorified) would have allowed these animals to inhabit the Earth and for the Earth to exist for a time before humans inhabited it. Because some time is needed for these decomposed animals and plant life to be turned into usable fossil fuels.

6) The Qur'an is a Book of Revelation teaching mankind to worship the correct God, and other various lessons, and warning them about the Day of Judgment and Heaven and Hell. It has nothing to do with teaching history, or biology, etc.

7)
First the Djinns (the tribe of Iblis) lived on earth and we don't know what animals lived on earth before mankind started to live on it with the Djinns.

This is an assumption made from people's traditions and is not mentioned in the Qur'an or any hadith. The first jinn was Iblis and he came to the Earth during the time of Adam and Hawwa (peace be upon them). The Iblis is the father of the jinn race, his female mate is note mentioned, but it is likely he had one as well, considering jinns procreate like humans.

8) If your parents, with their level of knowledge and education do not accept the existence of dinosaurs, do not push it, although it is incorrect. It is not appropriate, and they will not be questioned about it on the Day of Judgment, just as many humans in the past believed that the Earth was flat, that will not effect their salvation.

And Allah (The Glorified and Exalted) Knows Best.

From where did you get this information that earth is only 1000s years old?

Sister... The basic difference between Islam and other religions e.g. Christianity or Judaism is that Islam is clean of all those man made concepts and ideas which crept into those religions. Allah has created the earth, the moon, the sun, the stars and the the galexies. These galexies are millions of lightyears apart. So how this universe could have been created a few 1000s years ago???

Think about it... Allah has presented the concept of time as a variable quatity 1300 years before Einestien presented his Theory of Relativity. The Quran says in two verses, (22:47 and 32:5), that the measure of one day in the sight of Allah is equal to 1,000 years of our reckoning.
In Surah Al-Maarij (70:4) Allah says: "The angels and the spirit ascend unto Him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years".

How many times the angels have ascended to Him we don't know. So one can calculate how old this earth and this universe is, multiply that with 50,000 and you will find that to be a big number, not 1000s.

The dinasour is Allah's creation. We should be at awe that Allah (SWT) has created such huge animals and then thankfully removed them before He brought the humans on earth.

The Big Bang theory says that this universe came into being about 15 billion years ago. Islam has no problem with that, and Islam has never contradicted any true scientific discovery or knowledge.

Hope now you will have some understanding of the universe and its age and the view of Islam about it.

6) The Qur'an is a Book of Revelation teaching mankind to worship the correct God, and other various lessons, and warning them about the Day of Judgment and Heaven and Hell. It has nothing to do with teaching history, or biology, etc.

The Quran has a lot of scientific facts that you are denying.Like the different stages of the embryo and that sweet water and salty water don't mix.
So the Quran has a lot of biological in it and physics, gepgraphie etc.

This is an assumption made from people's traditions and is not mentioned in the Qur'an or any hadith. Like I mentioned brother/sister it's not fro anybody but from Ibn Kathir.
Sheikh Shady who presented the book of Ibn Kathir in his mosques proved his statements with the Quran and Sunna.
Before saying it's an assumption maybe you should consider first who Ibn Kathir is and listen to the presentation of his book Al Bidaya wal Nihaya,
The first jinn was Iblis
This is wrong!Cause nowhere is it mentioned that Iblis is the first jinn but rather he was the only believing one out of them and was summoned to jannah in contrary to his ribe.

Here a link for anyone who is interested in how everything started and how it will end:
Seeing that I can't post links I would recommend you to look for Sheikh Shady The never ending story on Youtube

Sorry but you are confusing Biblical teaching with Islamic teachings.

Quran does not state the creation date of the planet. Rather is states that ther Earth was created in 7 stages (periods). Each period can be a day long or 1 million years long or a billion years long...

Islam requires us to seek knowledge, and understand the creation made by Allah, because with them you will find signs of his creation.

:salam2:

this is not true: 1000 years old,

Nuh, as, lived for about that much time alone let alone Adam, as. These you will learn in hadith and stories of the prophets PBUT.

wa Allah ya'lam

dinasours have not been discussed in the Quran, however, I origination of man was. Allah swt, provided us with information that we need to know and will help us; with His mercy.

wa aleikum assalam wa rahmat Allah
