As Salamu 'Alaykum,

"We have sent down the Book to you with truth. So worship Allah, making your religion sincerely His.
Indeed the sincere religion belongs to Allah alone..."
(Surat az-Zumar: 2-3)

I would like to share two of my favorite Bible Verses which I think may be relevant to this thread. Any falsehood is never concealed from Allah. I am always saddened when individuals who claim to be of a certain faith (whatever that faith may be) disregard the words in their own scriptures:

Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Pro 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Pro 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
Pro 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Pro 6:20 My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Joh 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1Co 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
1Co 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
1Co 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Sorry, I put three. They may or may not be part of the original; however, anyone who claims to believe in Allah by any name should consider the first.

One of the things that I had to learn as a pastor was the depth of the meaning in the following:

If we judge, we place ourselves in the position of Allah, Al Quran, and those whom Allah has appointed as teachers.

Praise be to Allah (The Glorified and Exalted).

I once remember reading a verse of one of the gospels of the christians, in which it said that it was okay to lie and deceive other people as long as they come to the worship of christ as a result. Perhaps brother Frank can quote the exact verse. There appears to be a large number of egyptian and lebanese arab christians that have a great deal of enmity against Muslims and tell lies in order to convert others to their religion.

@Brother Frank

This makes sad as well, instead of doing something like this why dont they debate us openly fair and square like an intelligent person with sincere intention for searching the truth.

btw jazaakallah khairan for the bible quotes, i'll look at each verses carefully.

i think i get that impression, that's why in my country (in many countries in fact) some missionaries resorts to fraud like faith healing where the "healer" demonstrate his "ability" in front of muslim audience trying to cure a paralysed person by reciting some bible verses and suddenly this "paralysed" person able to stand and walk then he praise jesus. its fake of course but some ignorant people actually believe it.

As Salamu 'Alakum,

I will try and share my knowledge and informed perspective on the practice.

First, for the Protestant Christian, one of the most valued books after the Bible (which is what differentiates Roman Catholics from Protestants is the fact that for the Protestant The Bible is to be the final authority and for the Roman Catholic, the Pope is the final authority), is a book written I believe in the 16th Century. It is Foxe Book of Martyrs[/B]. The book is filled with Christians who were tortured and died rather than denounce their beliefs.

A couple of years ago I read that many Jews were Claiming that the Messianic Judaism and Hebrew Roots Movements were guilty of trying to convert Jews to Christianity by "disguising" Christianity as a sect of Judaism. Not being a Jew, I can't speak to the truth of this claim against Messianic Judaism. However, having been to some extent a proponent of The Hebrew Roots Movement, I seriously doubt that this is the motivation behind Hebraic Roots Movement. Those in the Hebraic Roots Movement are probably trying to reconcile The Old and New Testament by seeing Yeshua as "The Living Torah." I have heard Messianic Jews state that they often hid their Christian Beliefs in order to enter Israel both to visit Jerusalem and to evangelize Israeli Jews.

The Bible says a few things about such practices.

When Peter would shun the non-Jewish Christian when there were other Jewish Christians around, Paul rebuked him:

Gal 2:11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
Gal 2:12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
Gal 2:13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.
Gal 2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?

The writings of Paul which are contained in the Bible are often very difficult to understand and harmonize as even Peter admits:

2Pe 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Those who believe that the modern day Christians are following a religion which bears little resemblance to that of The Early Nazarene Faith point out that in an effort to distance themselves from The Jews and continue to gain acceptance by the secular government, Christians very early on adapted their beliefs to avoid persecution and perhaps be viewed more as a "new" religion than an extension of Judaism.

We know that Paul when visiting the polytheists of Greece in Athens used a similar method when he encountered the Greeks:

Act 17:18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
Act 17:19 And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?
Act 17:20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
Act 17:21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
Act 17:22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
Act 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

Many believe that the Roman Catholic Church has used a technique of incorporateing the local religions of areas where they are attempting to proselytize through missionary efforts. Which is why many religions simply adorned their religion with the garb of Roman Catholicism and continued to worship their gods in the form of Saints.

I tried researching this subject on the internet; unfortunately, it seems like the Christians opposed to Islam are very prolific in their internet propaganda since the majority of search results were about Muslims pretending to be Christians for nefarious purposes.

I did find this article which I have only skimmed:

From Christian to Muslim

And, this article about a revert who had been a Neo-Nazi.

Finally, I found this site. Mattaqun Online

One thing is certain. Because Islam is the fastest growing religion in North America, many Christians are diligently mounting attacks against Islam and are portraying Islam as everything from misguided to Satanic.

He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed. (7)

Allah! There is no God save Him. He gathereth you all unto a Day of Resurrection whereof there is no doubt. Who is more true in statement than Allah? (87) What aileth you that ye are become two parties regarding the hypocrites, when Allah cast them back (to disbelief) because of what they earned? Seek ye to guide him whom Allah hath sent astray? He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him thou (O MUhammad) canst not find a road. (88) They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them, (89)

Hadith - Bukhari and Muslim, vol. 4, no. 255, p. 158.
It has been confirmed that the Prophet Peace and Blessings be upon him said: "Three persons will get their reward twice [i.e. a double reward]. [One is] a person who has a slave girl and he educates her properly and teacher her good manners properly [without violence] and then manumits and marries her. Such a person will get a double reward. [Another is] a believer from the People of the Scriptures who has been a true believer [in his Prophet Peace and Blessings be upon him], and then he believes in the Prophet [Muhammad Peace and Blessings be upon him]. Such a person will receive a double reward. [The third is] a slave man who observes Allah's rights and is sincere to his master [and observes the rights of his master]."

If they believed in Allah and the Prophet and that which is revealed unto him, they would not choose them for their friends. But many of them are of evil conduct. (81) Thou wilt find the most vehement of mankind in hostility to those who believe (to be) the Jews and the idolaters. And thou wilt find the nearest of them in affection to those who believe (to be) those who say: Lo! We are Christians. That is because there are among them priests and monks, and because they are not proud. (82) When they listen to that which hath been revealed unto the messengers, thou seest their eyes overflow with tears because of their recognition of the Truth. They say: Our Lord, we believe. Inscribe us as among the witnesses. (83)

As Salaamalaykum brother Frank,

First of all, I would advise you to not take information from the website of Harun Yahya, as some of his stances are not agreed upon. However, he has done interesting works on evolution.

Also I think the following video lecture would interest you Insha'Allah :-

As Salamu 'Alaykum:

Brother in Islam, I have tried to avoid being in a position where I am presenting myself as a teacher instead of what I am which is a student of Islam. But, after watching the video you so kindly shared, I do have some questions. My intention in asking these are to better understand Islam and it is my hope that none of the righteous are offended by this thread, Insha Allah.

Being an American revert to Islam, I am especially concerned with the possibility of putting " a stumbling block" in the path of any sincere "investigator of Islam." (By investigator, I mean any individual who is studying Islam with the honorable intention of discovering The Truth contained within it.)

Al-Baqara
Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous. (255)

Al Quran has this to say about Scripture:

An-Nisa
O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His messenger and the Scripture which He hath revealed unto His messenger, and the Scripture which He revealed aforetime. Whoso disbelieveth in Allah and His angels and His scriptures and His messengers and the Last Day, he verily hath wandered far astray. (136)

Al-E-Imran
Say (O Muhammad): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and that which was vouchsafed unto Moses and Jesus and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered. (84)

It is my understanding that all the writings in The New Testament which refer to Scripture is referring to The Tanakh.

So, 1 Thessalonian 2:13, 2 Timothy 3:16, and 2 Peter 1:20,21 all refer to Scripture which existed at that time which is the Tanakh and not The New Testament.

And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil). (46) Let the People of the Gospel judge by that which Allah hath revealed therein. Whoso judgeth not by that which Allah hath revealed: such are evil-livers. (47) And unto thee have We revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever Scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which hath come unto thee. For each We have appointed a divine law and a traced-out way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as ye are). So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that wherein ye differ. (48)

So, even those the word Gospel is written in Al Quran, it is referring to The Good News and not the portion of The New Testament known by the same name. ? Is this correct?

So my point is that although The New Testament is valuable to understand the perspective of individuals whom were raised as Christians and to demonstrate many early "Christian" concepts concerning a wide range of beliefs. If it contradicts The Torah, Tanakh, or Al Quran than it is either a mistranslation or false.

I do not mean to offend any Jew, Christian, Muslim or Sikh who accepts la ilaha illa allah:

Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Deu 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

I mentioned Sikh because they too are a Monotheistic Religion with many righteous individuals just as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have both righteous and unrighteous who claim these religions and only Allah knows their hearts.

So, when I quote The New Testament, it is with the above understanding and is not meant to infer or maintain that it is to be given the same weight as Al Quran. It is because I am knowledgeable concerning The Tanakh and The New Testament and is how I came to where I am in my search for a clearer understanding of Allah, but I also understand that even if I were to fully commit to memory Tanakh, The New Testament, and Al Quran as well as Guru Granth Sahib Ji, I would still be where Paul was when he wrote:

1Co 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1Co 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Shokran for your indulgence in my attempts to explain my position. And, hopefully, one day, Insha Allah, I will have a full enough understanding of Al Quran and Islam to quote more extensively from them and less from that which I previously used as a light upon my feet and a lamp on my path.

Psa 119:103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psa 119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
Psa 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Am I correct in the above or am I missing the mark?
