Fareed Zakaria: Newsweek March 9

Salaam,

" In the end, time is on our side. Bin Ladenism has already lost ground in almost every Muslim country. Radical Islam will follow the same path. Wherever it is tried, in Afghansistan, In Iraq, in parts of Nigeria, and Pakistan- people weary of its charms very quickly. The truth is that all Islamists violent or not, lack answers to the problems of the modern world. They do not have a world view that can satisfy the aspirations of modern men and women. We do. That's the most powerful weapon of all."

Mr. Zakaria writes this in Newsweek. He has managed to find the soultions to the evils of the Musilm world in Western hegemony.

I beleive that Islam does have the answers to all of life. It saddens me to see this kind of sell out. But maybe I am alone.

I really dispise this guy very much, I don't think he is muslim he is from India and some how is connected with "counter-terrorism" intelligence in the washington, many Indians work there because some how they are "experts" on "Islamic" radicalism. This guy wants Obama to invade to Pakistan btw because he considers Pakistan and India to be one nation. He also accused Saudi Arabia have helping fund Al-Qaeda, when Saudi Arabia is fighting them? he is a complete liar, so you shouldn't trust this Indian.(No racism intended)

Asalaamalikum,

I mentioned (in a thread) about this guy and other so called outcast Muslims whom CNN, FOX & western media hire to give "expert" analysis. Just because someone has a Muslim name attached does not mean they are a credible source or "experts."

Just earlier this morning there was an article on CNN written by two people who use Muslim names and was criticizing Saudia Arabia, yet they will not defend the atrocity of Gaza, the illegal occupation in Afghanistan & Iraq, the US supplying weapons to Ethopians. The tactics of western media is getting more decietful.

I posted a thread about translating & working as a spy for the kuffar is haram in Islam, especially during times of war.

People like him will do anything for money & worldly materials or else there would be no definition for dunya.

P.S. this guy also believes more troops are needed in Afghanistan. He's a war monger.

I don't "completely" agree with his opinion but at the same time respect what he is saying as in my view he is not attacking Islam but attacking the present 'islamic' leadership. He is right in pointing out that "islamists" (I read that as Muslim leaders) do not have the answers to the problems of the modern world. That is because whereever you look, muslims only talk about violence (including the responses to this post) and all so called Islamic stats are going through turmoil.

I do not like the word "Islamists" and prefer to be called a muslim. However, to say that I do not have to call anyone names (such as the ones in this post). Islam is the religion of peace but alas we muslims (including myself) have made it into a intolerant religion where no dissidence is allowed. Take it easy guys - everyone has the freedom to express their opinion (although we may not agree with it). But that does not give us the right to call others names and be totally intolerant to their views. Allah will hold us responsible for our action and not for the action of others. Therefore, lets mind our tongues/language (especially when we are expressing our difference of opinion to someone. May Allah save us from ourselves and guide us in the right path - Ameen.

Salaam,

I think you should do some further research on him before you make conclusion on this small excerpt presented by respected sister Mirajmom. You'll see a bigger picture of him & what he represents. As Muslim we have a duty to stand for the Truth and filter out falsehood. What non-Muslims call "modern" is different from what we call "modern." For example, they think sexually exploiting women is "modern" we Muslims disagree. There is two ends to a spectrum.

I did not see anything "violent" in the posts above. Dear brother, we have been not only been victims of Western policitcal & military aggression but lies as well. How can we remain silent? They kill our innocent brothers day by day, yet we should be sympathetic towards their killings and lies? Should we be tolerant & ok with x-US president Bush too? I don't think so!

There is danger with too much "freedom of expression." It can stir anger amongst the public. Soloman Rushdie is a good example. Western media silences those who speak the Truth but will give full authority to someone to speak false under the pretext of "freedom of expression." Try and go speak the Truth to CNN and see how much "freedom of expression" they will give you.

:salam2:

the problem is that non-muslims really don't know how to differentiate. they see a muslim name and assume he knows exactly what he's talikng about. so, now what does that mean for us? it means that we have to make our best efforts to show what islam really means and stands for. these guys have gotten away with spreading misinformation because we have failed to take out the time to educate people. it seems as if everyone is waiting for someone else to do the job.

what i get from him is that he feels that the wrong muslims are getting the world's attention. muslims that do wonderful things ( the majority ) are always in the shadow because of people doing bad things in the name of islam. basically, it's time for real muslims to take islam back. new reverts have hard times with their families not really because they changed faiths but because parents fear that their child is involved with terrorists. the families get this idea from the news, but it's bad muslim groups that feed into that image.

Bump... . I have been seeing this guy more and more on TV and I am concerned about his views. I know that the western media does not allow truth to prevail but quick to feature guys with arabic names to spread what is called their "expert opinions." I have not listened extensively to this guy's point of view, but my gut feeling tells me he's far from Islam. I ask Allah to help our Muslim ummah and lead us to victory.. Ameen.
