Feeling low

Smile for Allah
:salam2:

My imaan has been down for a few weeks. Even though I'm still routinely praying salaat and everything, the same fervour isn't there.

I was just reading a book to get back into things, and it discouraged me even more - there were some stories of the Sahaba, and how someone built a house with a dome on it, and the Prophet s.a.w. wouldn't talk to him so that person burned the house down. And then one of the Umm ul momineen built up a wall with unbaked bricks, and the Prophet (s.a.w.) came back and said that the worst way to waste money is to raise houses with it. But then, look at our world now. We have such big houses and everything, how will we ever gain Allah's pleasure this way? Reading all this depressed me even more. I feel hopeless, like no matter how much I try, I can never attain and be a good muslim. It's impossible in our modern current world. I wish I lived back then, 1400 years ago.

Sigh.

to Allah we belong
:salam2:,

yes, can u pls tell the source of these hadith as brother HardRock Moslem asked?

bcoz there are many books and information on net which have weak or fabricated hadith. so you should not worry too much.

i too wish to live 1400 yrs ago, but then i think that it was not easy to live in those times. do u remember the battles of Badr, khandaq, etc when sahaba used to live hungry, thirsty and without blankets in winter. can we really do that?

and wht if we might not be able to cope with it?

And as we are living in tough times, we will get more reward inshallah. when ppl are bad and you are good you get more reward compared to when ppl are good too.

few good deeds in these times will be heavier in Allah's scale in comparison to many good deeds in an Islamic environment. inshallah

ponder over this hadith sister: Islam began as something strange, and it shall return to being something strange, so give glad tidings to the strangers.” [Muslim]

"Islam began strange and will return to being strange and Tuba (a field/tree of heaven) to the strangers.”

may Allah reward you for your intentions and help us all.
